Meet the Sleuths and Suspects of ‘Enola Holmes 2’

In the new sequel, Enola takes on a brand-new mystery.
    Oct. 28, 2022

Every great mystery needs its suspects, and Enola Holmes 2 is no exception. In the hotly anticipated sequel, the young Holmes sibling takes on her first official case as a detective-for-hire. And this one is a doozy: a seemingly simple missing-persons case that quickly spirals into a massive conspiracy, with Enola at the center. Fortunately, she’ll have more than enough help from friends and family alike, including some new and familiar faces. Come with us on a tour of England, 1884 — and keep an eye out for any shady customers.

Millie Bobby Brown

Enola Holmes

Brown returns as the intrepid junior sleuth, this time officially chasing mysteries as part of her new career. She gets a bit more than she bargained for with this one, but for the Holmes family, “more than you bargained for” is practically a motto. Outside Baker Street, Brown’s best-known role is as telekinetic teen Eleven on Stranger Things. She’s also appeared as a puny human friend of Godzilla’s in Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Godzilla vs. Kong. Brown will next be seen in the Russo Brothers’ upcoming Netflix sci-fi road trip The Electric State.

Henry Cavill

Sherlock Holmes

Cavill follows in a long(ish) tradition of big-screen superheroes moonlighting as the world’s greatest detective, and while his Sherlock is perhaps a bit more shredded than the traditional interpretation, he’s no less clever. Cavill also leads The Witcher’s crew of monster hunters as Geralt of Rivia; that fantasy epic returns next summer. He was a debonair spy in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and a blunt-force, fist-cocking weapon in Mission: Impossible — Fallout. And of course, he’s the erstwhile Superman of Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel and other DC adventures.

Louis Partridge

Viscount Tewkesbury

Enola’s partner in crime (and possible love interest) Tewkesbury is back, and this time he’s in for a surprise: Enola needs his help. Don’t make her say it again. Partridge has appeared in films ranging from Pan to Paddington 2; he’s also one of the stars of Italian historical drama Medici.

Susie Wokoma

Edith

Wokoma returns as the kindly teahouse owner/female martial arts instructor (a classic job combination in Victorian England; look it up if you don’t believe us). Wokoma also had a voice role in the stop-motion anthology film The House this year, and plays a lead role in demon-hunter comedy Crazyhead. You can also spot her in a regular role in I May Destroy You creator Michaela Coel’s sitcom Chewing Gum.

Helena Bonham Carter

Eudoria Holmes

The matriarch of the Holmes family is played by iconic Helena Bonham Carter, the woman behind such indelible screen creations as Harry Potter’s Bellatrix Lestrange and Sweeney Todd’s Mrs. Lovett. Eudoria is a bit more low-key than that gothic pair, but she still has her share of oddities. You can also spot Bonham Carter in films from Fight Club and Alice in Wonderland to The Wings of the Dove and The King’s Speech (the latter pair garnered her two Oscar nominations). And finally, who could forget her portrayal of Princess Margaret in Seasons 3 and 4 of The Crown?

Adeel Akhtar

Inspector Lestrade

In Holmes lore, Inspector Lestrade is second only to Dr. Watson as a Holmes sidekick. The Scotland Yard detective is a worthy (if a bit slow) assistant to the detective in many of his most famous cases. He’s played in the Enola Holmes films by Adeel Akhtar, who’s popped up in projects ranging from The Big Sick to Murder Mystery to Murdered by My Father (for which he won the British Academy Television Award for Best Actor).

Sharon Duncan-Brewster

Mira Troy

Secretary to the head of the Treasury, Troy is a new character in the Enola Holmes world, and one who finds herself caught up in Enola’s case whether she likes it or not. Duncan-Brewster most recently played Dr. Liet-Kynes in Denis Villeneuve’s big-budget Dune adaptation, but prior to that she played roles on shows like Doctor Who and Bad Girls, and in films like Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Blooded. She also appeared as Roz Marchetti in Seasons 1 and 2 of Sex Education.
