Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood's daily ritual that 'makes him feel alive'

Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood has been on the BBC show since it began in 2004 and has now shared a glimpse into his daily routine

Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood has revealed his peculiar daily routine "makes him feel alive". The 60-year-old has been a panellist on the popular BBC programme since it launched in 2004.

This achievement is only matched by fellow judge Anton Du Beke, who began as a professional dancer on the series, and host Tess Daly.

Tess, alongside co-presenter Claudia Winkleman, recently revealed that the current series would be their final one.

Craig, who has been betrothed to partner Jonathan Myring since 2018, has now revealed details about one of his daily routines, reports Wales Online.

This emerged when the Sun's Fabulous magazine asked if there was a "random fact" about him that "no one would know".

Craig responded: "There aren't many of those left – after 60 years, I've blurted out everything! I like to go for a swim in a cold pool every morning, even in the middle of winter.

"I don't last long, mind you, in 12C water. But it makes me feel alive."

Craig has previously discussed using water-based exercise for rehabilitation following surgery.

This came as the celebrity confessed he was "lucky" he could walk after the hip operation.

Speaking in 2018, he said: "I don't mind getting older, I just find it quite painful. You wake up in the morning and something else hurts.

"My hip operation is great - I am no longer in pain. I have been doing aqua aerobics and things in the pool a lot, stuff that doesn't involve the joints. But now I can actually start doing things on land.

"I will be fine for things like panto, but I could never go back to full-time principal dancer. It would be like asking an Olympic champion to go back to what they were doing. I'm lucky that I can walk, and I am lucky that I can still cut a few shapes."

Craig recently made a playful dig at Strictly presenter Claudia when questioned about her exit.

Speaking on spin-off programme It Takes Two, he remarked: "What I love about her is she knows absolutely nothing about dance."

Following the cheeky remark, Craig continued: "And I think that's brilliant."

Craig commended Tess for maintaining a link to the programme's former host, the late Sir Bruce Forsyth who passed away in 2017.

He explained: "I've been with her for 21 years. She always represents for me Brucey, as well.

"So, it's a double-edged sword," he continued. "I wish them well. I want them to go onto fabulous things. I love them both.

"I'll always have that, as soon as I hear the music," he concluded. "As soon as I hear the music I always see Brucey, and I'll always see Tess and [Claudia]."
