The 1% Club apologises after major mishap leaves fans frustrated

The 1% Club returned for another head-scratching episode but fans couldn't help but feel annoyed by tonight's instalment.

The 1% Club fans were having a "total meltdown" thanks to an unexpected blunder.

Host Lee Mack was once more on duty to shepherd 100 contestants through The 1% Club, which employs IQ test-style questions with difficulty levels based on what percentage of the general public answered them correctly.

What makes The 1% Club such a hit with ITV audiences is its companion app, allowing viewers at home to participate and see how well they perform on the evening.

Sadly, the app appeared to be malfunctioning for fans, with numerous people flocking to X, previously known as Twitter, to voice their complaints.

"What's up with the app it's not working", someone enquired, whilst another penned: "So it's not just me whose not got tonights game on the app."

A third shared: "Total meltdown not being able to play #1percentclub on the app tonight.

"Why won't the game come up on my app?", another viewer questioned, as someone else observed: "How am I supposed to play along with the app when it's not working on my iPad, iPhone or my android tablet."

After spotting the grievances, a representative posted on The 1% Percent Club's official X account to tackle the issue.

They stated: "We apologise for the app issue, this will be fixed for next week's episode. #The1PercentClub."

Numerous people thanked the programme for "issuing the apology" whilst one user quipped: "It better be, or there will be trouble."

In tonight's episode, five contestants reached the final 1% question with all of them deciding to gamble and compete for the £98,000 rather than depart with their portion of £10,000.

However, it was solely contestant Lewis who managed to answer the ultimate question correctly, ensuring he departed with the complete staggering prize pot.

Previously during the programme, he revealed to Lee Mack that he was motivated to audition for the series after enjoying a Big Mac at McDonald's as it brought the presenter to mind.

Upon discovering his victory, Lewis quipped: "I'm going to get one [a Big Mac] on the way home to celebrate."

The 1% Club is available to watch on ITV and ITVX.
