Coronation Street's chilling Costello twist 'changes everything'
Coronation Street is lining up a big twist for DI Costello and Becky Swain on the ITV soap next week, and our soap source says it could be a turning point for the characters
One character confesses to a murder next week on Coronation Street, and it could change everything.
Viewers will recall that months ago, Becky Swain rocked up in Weatherfield four years after her apparent demise in the line of duty. She stunned her wife Lisa Swain and daughter Betsy with the news she faked her death, and had been in hiding in Spain ever since.
Since then we've learned that the person who really died that night was a woman named Tia Wardley. DI Costello, who helped Becky flee and covered up her fake demise, told Lisa that Tia had no family and no one who would miss her.
He made it seem like they used Tia's death that night to their advantage, but it was implied that the death wasn't planned. But a chilling twist that happens next week with Costello could suggest otherwise, and it could turn the storyline completely on its head.

But the way that he says it certainly suggests Becky wouldn't be his first victim.
Our soap insider said: "We know that Becky is a villain and we've not even seen what she's fully capable of just yet. But what if Costello's the one to watch out for after all?
"We know he's dodgy and has bent the rules more than once, but next week viewers will see him prove just how dangerous he can be." Episodes next week see Carla grow convinced that 'love rival' Becky is trying to sink her claws into her fiancée Lisa.
Fans will see Becky be summoned by Carla, leading to the latter telling her she has no future with her ex-wife, while they are still technically married. Becky tries to rattle Carla, claiming Lisa's face makes it clear she's still in love with her.
"Becky is really trying to get to Carla," our soap expert added. "She'll do whatever it takes to get her family back. She really tries to get between them, dropping doubts and the rest, but she's really underestimated the love that Swarla have for each other."
Later in the week, Lisa's teen daughter Betsy asks Carla to convince Lisa to agree to a trip to Spain for all of them, including Becky. But things take a turn when Lisa realises she can't marry Carla until she and Becky are divorced.
Costello tells her she has to force Becky back into playing dead in Spain as it's the only option. Instead, Lisa warns Carla about the crime she would be committing if she married her while still being married to Becky, with Carla fearing she is keeping her options open.
Our soap source teased: "Lisa does want to marry Carla, but Carla can't help but fear this is all an excuse and that her feelings for Becky are tampering with their future." As the pair row, Lisa finds herself confiding in Betsy which results in her daughter asking if she still has feelings for Becky.
Elsewhere, the truth about Costello's victim comes to light when he threatens Becky to leave the next day. He warns that if she doesn't go, he will have her killed - just like he orchestrated the murder of Tia Wardley. "This moment could change everything," our source said.
"This one comment could prove Costello is dangerous, and not just with all-talk threats and sinister actions, but actual murder. If Costello has had someone killed, what's to stop him from doing it again."
