Coronation Street's Becky Swain actress Amy Cudden breaks silence on fake death twist

Coronation Street confirmed Becky Swain was alive and faked her death, leaving her wife Lisa Swain stunned and now actress Amy Cudden has revealed all about the plot

Becky Swain was revealed to be alive on Coronation Street on Monday night, as her wife Lisa Swain was left reeling.

But amid the obvious questions of why she faked her death and how DI Costello is linked to it all, viewers were also left wondering what had made Becky return after being dead for four years. Lisa got the shock of all shocks when her dead wife walked through the door very much alive.

The recent mystery surrounding how and why Becky died and what Costello was covering up has left many characters, and viewers, needing answers and on Monday night we got them. Now, actress Amy Cudden who plays Becky has broken her silence on the twist.

After her identity was teased last week and fans suspected she could be the real Tia Wardley, the same woman was seen at the end of Monday's, leaving Lisa shellshocked. The credits then confirmed she was none other than Becky Swain.

Now, actress Amy has revealed all and reacted to the twist with it confirmed Becky has been in hiding ever since her 'murder' four years ago. On the secret being out, she shared: "Of course the impulse is that you want to just sort of shout and scream about it, but I already care about it.

"There has been a lot of speculation but I am so pleased we managed to keep the arrival a secret. Obviously I didn’t want the fans of the show to lose any of the pleasure they're going to get from the arrival of this character and all of the big feelings that are going to come along with that.

"It would have felt very disrespectful to give the secret away. So I told my husband and my mum and some close family members and kept it at that." On what she wasn't expecting she said: "I didn't think it would be a big role at first, just a guest spot."

As for what fans can expect from Becky and what we are yet to find out, she shared: "I had a long conversation with Kate Brooks the producer the day after I got the part and that was when I realised what a big story it was going to be.

"I went in knowing more about Carla and Lisa's relationship through my research of old episodes. I was given a "robust skeleton sketch" of Becky, but a lot was left for me to fill in.

"Vicky and I discussed their shared history, including songs important to them, their wedding dance, first date, and who proposed."
