Coronation Street's Becky deliberately threatens Swarla future as Carla Connor returns

Coronation Street's Becky Swain threatened the future of Swarla once again on Thursday's episode as she casually dropped a bombshell truth to Carla Connor upon her return

Coronation Street's Becky Swain took it upon herself to deliver a bombshell truth to Carla Connor on Thursday's episode of the ITV soap. Factory boss Carla has been in a relationship with DS Lisa Swain for almost a year and they recently got engaged, but everything has been tested since Lisa's wife came on the scene.

It was originally thought that police officer Becky had been killed in the line of duty four years ago, but that turned out not to be the case and that her supposed death was all part of a corrupt cover-up in the force. Over the last few weeks, Becky has been rebuilding her relationship with their daughter Betsy and jumped at the chance to move in for a little while when Carla was away at a funeral in Ireland.

In the latest instalment of the Manchester-based serial, Carla returned from Ireland and was all excited to see her fiancée, but Becky wasted no time in telling her that she had been staying over. When Becky noted that it must have been hard for Carla to have been away for a few weeks, she initially brushed it off as she joked: "I dunno, you know what they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that."

Callously, Becky replied: "You'd better hope not. I've been away a lot longer than you, haven't I?" Stunned, Carla replied: "Wow. Okay, you enjoy your gorgeous little evening in your flat on your own because me and Lisa have got some serious sofa snuggling to catch up on."

Determined to have the last word before walking out, Becky said: "It is a fab sofa. I certainly slept well on it." When Carla confronted Lisa about this, the detective played the whole thing down and said it was all about 'moral support'.

Not convinced, Carla went round to see Roy at the cafe, having previously trusted him at a confidant and asked him to keep an eye on things while she was away. Roy, who was one of the first people outside number six to realise the truth about Becky, said: "They have been spending rather a lot of time together, which is understandable given the circumstances. I did talk to her about it. She said it was complicated, which clearly it is, but despite any feelings, that she was trying to do the best for her daughter.

"She also said how much she loved you and how much she was committed to making things work."

Carla was left reeling as she questioned whether she believed what Lisa had said, but put things to the back of her mind. Upon returning home, Carla confirmed to Lisa that she did in fact trust her. Viewers will remember that while Carla was away, Lisa confessed to Roy that she did in fact still love Becky.

Roy asked her: "Do you still love Becky?"

With little hesitation, Lisa replied: "Yes. I still love Becky." In tears, she added: "I'll save you the awkwardness asking the most obvious question. If I love them both, who do I love more? Who do I want to be with now and for the rest of my life? It is Carla. A hundred times Carla, but being around Becky...I..."

All the drama did not go down too well with fans of Swarla, with one writing: "It’s a headf*** watching this storyline unfold. The constant up & downs, my brain doesn’t know how to feel anymore….

"But I suppose that’s the point. If this is how we feel as the viewer, Lisa must feel this times a thousand, with this being her reality."

Another said: "Afraid to say we are a long way off Lisa choosing Carla, the moment to choose Carla was before this happened & they were interrupted from what was going to happen next!"
