Celia Imrie shocked by her murder on Celebrity Traitors and vows revenge
The 73-year-old actor was in playful mood as she spoke out about her Celebrity Traitors experience, having been killed in the last episode of the BBC One hit competition
Celia Imrie lashed out at Alan Carr after realising he ‘murdered’ her in Celebrity Traitors and vowed to get revenge one day. The 73-year-old actor was killed off by TV host Alan when he said the line “Parting is such sweet sorrow” from a William Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet during Thursday’s episode of the BBC show.
After learning he was responsible and was playing a traitor role, Celia said: “Oh, you b*****d. Alan, how can you? Wait till I meet him next.” She also dubbed fellow traitor Cat Burns a “little devil” after she helped her on a wobbly bridge challenge they took part in together. Celia added: “I hate them both. I was very helpful to Cat. She said I was.
“Well, I wouldn't, again, next time, I'd let her fall.” Alan killed off Celia during a dinner party and looking back she said it should have been more obvious to her that something was up when he began quoting Stephen Fry doing Shakespeare.
“l though the dinner was lovely, it felt a bit peculiar. But why are they suddenly giving us a dinner? It seemed a peculiar thing to do at that point.
“When you watch it back, Alan's so obvious. You know, you just think, what were we thinking about?
“I mean, I love that he laughs at everything and laughs at saying he's faithful and everything. It's very, very clever.” Speaking on the Uncloaked podcast which accompanies the series, Celia also admitted to host Ed Gamble she was "two-faced" during the series.
”People think I'm nice which is ridiculous - I'm not,” she explained. She said given the chance again she would like the chance to be a traitor herself rather than a faithful on the series.
“I do think I would be a good traitor,” she said. "I was a bit disappointed when I didn't get the nudge, but I'd be very good.
I don't think you can [have a game plan], you see, because everything goes in the air, doesn't it? I think change is sort of a bit adaptable. And it depends who's around, who you can manipulate. It's such a clever game, really.
“I'd murder Alan straight away, of course.” Celia and Kate Garraway were the latest pair to leave the hit BBC show, leaving five contestants in the final to fight it out for the prize money which will go to charity.
Traitors Alan Carr and Cat Burns are up against three faithfuls in David Olusoga , ex-rugby star Joe Marler and comedian Nick Mohammed.
* The Celebrity Traitors final, an extended 70 minute episode, is on BBC1 and BBC iPlayer next Thursday at 9pm.
