Are the Celebrity Traitors really the 'worst Faithfuls ever'?
Joe Wilkinson has branded the Celebrity Traitors as the 'worst Faithfuls ever' as three more exits mean the total number of Faithfuls ejected from the show has reached double digits
The players of the Celebrity Traitors have been branded the "worst Faithfuls ever" by one of their own, as three exits on the show means it has now seen 10 Faithfuls murdered or banished without any Traitors caught.
Last night's episode (23 October) saw the exit of three Faithfuls, including "big dog" Stephen Fry, Mark Bonnar and Joe Wilkinson. But before he was murdered and Stephen was banished, Joe told pals Joe Marler and David Olusoga that they were "making history" as the worst Faithfuls, having not yet caught any Traitors.
"Eight Faithfuls down, that's got to be a record," he laughed. "We're making history as the worst Faithfuls ever." But was Joe right? Of all 68 licensed series of The Traitors internationally, are these celebs the worst at rooting out the liars amongst them?
Surprisingly, no. Though they have done badly by reaching double digits of Faithfuls gone without a single Traitor caught, they are not even in the top three worst Traitors class.
The worst group of Faithfuls have so far been a group in Hungary's first series and Portugal's only series. These groups got rid of 13 Faithfuls before catching a Traitor.
Just behind Hungary and Portugal is Canada. The second Canadian series got rid of 12 Faithfuls. Third is Poland, whose Faithfuls got rid of 11 of their own before banishing a Traitor. As such, the UK celebs have at least two countries to beat before they can be classed amongst the worst.
And they definitely have not set a record. They are not even the only series to have banished or murdered 10 Faithfuls before a Traitor. Australia's first series, Norway's first series and The Netherland's second series, all got rid of 10 Faithfuls.
The only record they may have set is a national one, as the UK's non-celeb contestants have fared better. In the first series, it took eight Faithfuls leaving the show before the group caught their first Traitor, Alyssa Chan.
Meanwhile, in the second, Ash Bibi was caught after four Faithfuls had gone, and in the third, Armani Gouveia was banished after five Faithfuls had gone.
Being poor Faithfuls doesn't necessarily mean the Celeb Traitors won't end with a Faithful win though. Hungary's series ended with a Faithful win, as did the UK's worst non-celeb group. Whereas, the UK's best group of Faithfuls ultimately lost the jackpot to Traitor Harry Clark.
The Celebrity Traitors continues on 29 October at 9pm on BBC One.
