Strictly Come Dancing's Lauren Oakley was left in tears on It Takes Two after watching celeb partner Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink receive an emotional message from his family live on air. The ex footballer became the latest star to be voted out of Strictly at the weekend after landing in the bottom two with Amber Davies.

Jimmy and Lauren landed in the bottom two during Icons Week, having performed an American Smooth to Prince's Purple Rain on Saturday night. After dancing once again, the judges unanimously chose to save Amber and Nikita, who placed second on the leaderboard with their Cha Cha Cha to Ariana Grande's Break Free.

Appearing on It Takes Two this evening after their exit, the pair became emotional after receiving a heartfelt video message from Jimmy's wife Natalie and their three daughters. "We're so proud of you and your Strictly journey - you've blown us away every week," Natalie said.

Meanwhile eldest daughter Lauren added: "We're so proud of what you've accomplished and that you've started from scratch. We can't wait to keep dancing with you."

Their other daughter Miah said: "Thank you daddy for stepping out of your comfort zone for us - you're absolutely amazing." Meanwhile, youngest daughter Khloe added: "Well done daddy."

Finishing the message, Natalie said: "And Lauren, thank you for bringing out this new and fun side of Jimmy." This reduced Strictly pro Lauren, with the dancer wiping her tears away. "It's setting me off already," she said.

When asked what his family made of his Strictly experience, Jimmy composed himself and said: "That was emotional. They are really happy - they have been so supportive.

"Obviously, they were very sad after Saturday but very proud. It's family time, it's bringing everybody together and to see them and to see that message, I've got no words."

At the weekend, Jimmy revealed that he had been left "frustrated and angry" over a mistake he kept making in rehearsals. Speaking ahead of his live performance, Jimmy said that he "complicates things" every time he tries to learn the steps Lauren teaches him.

He said: "The first hit, I do them, and then after the third time trying, I complicate things, and I end up thinking too much about it and overcomplicating it, and then getting frustrated with myself and getting angry. So, it’s a process that I just need to get out of. I don’t know what it is, but I haven’t cracked it yet in my head.

"So, it’s a process that I just need to get out of. I don’t know what it is, but I haven’t cracked it yet in my head. I think it’s just because it’s not natural, it’s not a day-to-day thing, it’s a new discipline.

And you can just see my face changing and my demeanour shifting. I just get really upset with myself." Despite this, Lauren admitted in the joint interview that she actually has full confidence in his ability.

Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two airs weekdays at 6:30pm on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.
