Sean Dyche reveals Nottingham Forest masterplan as Brian Cough point made

Sean Dyche has been appointed as the new head coach of Nottingham Forest and the 50-year-old has spoken of his love for the club

New Nottingham Forest head coach Sean Dyche has spoken of his deep connection to the club and outlined how his players must master the fundamentals in order to progress.

Surrounding himself with Forest legends Steve Stone and Ian Woan, alongside former City Ground stars Tony Loughlan and Billy Mercer, the new manager recognises there's significant work ahead to ensure his tenure at a club close to his heart proves fruitful.

A local resident and former apprentice at the club, Dyche grasps the club's essence, but to transform the team's fortunes, he acknowledges the real graft starts immediately.

Speaking after taking over from Ange Postecoglou, he declared: "The basics have always got to be in place. Strong, fit and organised is always a good place to start, but I want the players to have the freedom to go and play.

"There's some real talent here, so our job now is to find that balance - the risk and reward of going forward to score goals and excite the crowd, but equally the solid base which has been such a big weapon for the Club, particularly last season. Finding that balance will be key.", reports Nottinghamshire Live.

"It's been important to familiarise ourselves with the players, get a feel for them, and for them to get a feel for us - but more importantly, we want to get them going again and bring that vibrancy back among them.

"There was a nice edge to them in our first session, and we want to keep that going and take those plans into the schedule. We've reminded them how good they are, what they've already achieved, and how we can build on that to bring consistency."

Dyche holds cherished memories of the club he joined as a starry-eyed youngster, with the legendary Brian Clough's towering presence dominating the City Ground.

"I've often spoken about my affection for the Club, having started my career here under the great Brian Clough. I didn't quite make it to the first team, but I have such fond memories from around the place - and hearing the boss' voice in the distance.

"It's strange to be back, but it's a very good thing, a very pleasing thing.

"There have been so many changes for both myself and the Club since I left. The Club has grown so much, and the opportunity to come back here as the Head Coach has come - I'm very pleased and proud to be in this position."

I've watched and managed matches at the City Ground, and there are countless elements that remain unchanged from decades past; the A Block is still the A Block.

"In my mind, the original Trent End is still there - I can still see it and imagine the noise coming from there. The atmosphere at the City Ground has been amazing whenever I've been down there. The Club has always been very good to me and welcomed me here."
