Nottingham Forest star gives honest Ruben Amorim verdict ahead of crucial Man Utd clash
Nottingham Forest host Manchester United on Saturday and they have a chance to stop the visitors' winning run under Ruben Amorim at three Premier League matches
Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White believes Ruben Amorim getting Manchester United closer to where they should be in recent weeks has been "incredible to see". Gibbs-White will be part of the Forest team tasked with ending United's winning run - currently standing at three games - when the Premier League resumes over the weekend.
Gibbs-White was part of a squad which did the double over United last season, scoring in a 3-2 win at Old Trafford. Forest have changed managers twice since then, dismissing Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou, but United have kept faith with Amorim despite a challenging few months.
Amorim's team have now started to seen an upturn in form, with home victories over Sunderland and Brighton sandwiching a statement win away at Liverpool. They sit just one point outside the top four ahead of Saturday's trip to the City Ground, and could end the weekend as high as second if results go their way.
The improvement hasn't been lost on England international Gibbs-White. "It’s been incredible to see, obviously they’ve been going through a tough time in the past couple of years," he told Stan Sport (via Goal).
"But they’ve stuck with the gaffer [Amorim] and the past four or five games, you’re really starting to see how Man United should be playing, that grit and that determination to want to play for the badge. I feel like it’s been incredible to see, it’s something I feel like the league has missed."

A third straight home win in the fixture would be a welcome sight for a fanbase who haven't seen the team win in the league since August, and their playmaker knows they have to focus on doing their own jobs first and foremost.
"All we can do is focus on ourselves, we can’t focus on how Man United are doing and how their performances are because if we do that, we’re just almost bowing down to them," Gibbs-White said. "We’ve got to focus on what we want to do and how we can win the game. I feel like this week we’ve already started to implement some ideas, and obviously we’ve still got a few more days until the game, so I’m sure the gaffer [Sean Dyche] will have more ideas of how we can beat them."
Both Forest and United have had a midweek break after suffering early eliminations from the Carabao Cup. United were beaten on penalties by lower-league Grimsby Town while Forest threw away a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 away at Swansea City of the Championship.
Amorim has confirmed Luke Shaw will be available despite only managing 65 minutes against Brighton last time out. “Luke Shaw is fine. He had a virus during the week. He struggled a little bit in the game, but he’s going to be ready for the next one,” he said.
