Every match Liverpool’s injured players could miss in tough spell for Arne Slot
Liverpool have been left counting the cost of their injury crisis with more set to miss games over the coming weeks and months with Arne Slot not ruling any of them out from the Premier League table
Liverpool boss Arne Slot is grappling with an injury crisis amidst a significant slump in form. The Reds, who started the season with seven straight wins, have now lost six of their last seven matches, tumbling down the Premier League table and bowing out of the Carabao Cup.
Anfield saw a major shake-up over the summer with big names like Trent Alexander-Arnold and Luis Diaz leaving, while Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz were among the high-profile arrivals. Despite their early victories, it was evident that Liverpool had issues, which seem to have been exposed in recent weeks.
In addition to a string of losses, Slot has been hit by injuries to key players, not least Alexis Mac Allister who's been struggling for full fitness and form. Alisson, Ryan Gravenberch and Alexander Isak have all sat out crucial matches, with Slot hoping they'll return for a gruelling nine-day stretch featuring clashes against Aston Villa, Real Madrid and Manchester City.
One player who will definitely be absent from those games is Jeremie Frimpong. The summer recruit is set to spend up to six weeks on the sidelines after injuring his hamstring in the Champions League victory over Eintracht Frankfurt earlier this month.
With that in mind, Mirror Football brings you everything you need to know about Frimpong's injury and the other Liverpool stars currently out of action.
What has Slot said about Frimpong?
Slot essentially confirmed supporters' worst fears about Frimpong during his press conference before last weekend's journey to Brentford.
"Jeremie is not in a good place," he revealed. "He's definitely not going to play today, tomorrow, or next week. His hamstring injury is going to take a while."
The Liverpool manager didn't appear to mention Frimpong's issue before the Villa clash, with it already established he would be sidelined.
Which fixtures will Frimpong miss?
Frimpong picked up the knock on Wednesday, October 22, with a six-week lay-off from that point meaning he'll be absent for matches against Villa, Real and Manchester City before the November international break.
After the final fortnight-long domestic hiatus of 2025, Liverpool take on Nottingham Forest, PSV, West Ham United, Sunderland and Leeds United all before 10 December, 2026, which would almost certainly rule him out.
The Dutchman might return in time for the Champions League encounter with Inter Milan the next day, but if not then, he should be available to face Brighton that weekend at Anfield.
Should it prove to be six weeks from now, he would miss the Seagulls' visit and probably the journey to Tottenham just before Christmas.
Other sidelined Liverpool stars and the matches they'll miss.
Frimpong isn't the sole Liverpool player nursing an injury, with Slot confirming that Curtis Jones and Isak are 99.99 per cent ruled out of Saturday evening's fixture. He was able to provide an encouraging update on Ryan Gravenberch, though.
"Ryan trained yesterday, Isak and Jones didn't yet," he revealed.
"Let's wait and see where they are. Ryan trained with us today and we'll make the call if he can start. The other two 99.9% not in the squad."
Given the swift turnaround, it seems doubtful that either will be fit to play against Los Blancos on Tuesday evening or possibly even next weekend at Etihad Stadium.
Alisson is also expected to remain sidelined, but is nearing a return with it entirely feasible he could be back in goal before the international break having ramped up his recovery.
Giovanni Leoni is Liverpool's only long-term casualty with the young summer signing set to miss the rest of the season and potentially beyond after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
