Aaron Ramsey confirms stance on Cardiff City job with brutally honest admission
Former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has been given his first taste of senior management with Cardiff City but it seems unlikely he will take on the role permanently
Aaron Ramsey has dropped the biggest hint yet that he will not be in contention to take the Cardiff City job permanently after expressing doubts over the prospect of holding a joint player-manager role.
The Wales captain, 34, was handed the reins on an interim basis by his boyhood club when Omer Riza was sacked earlier this month. Ramsey has gone on to draw his first two games but those returns were not enough to prevent the Bluebirds from succumbing to relegation.
Cardiff will now seek a permanent successor to Riza, who will be tasked with getting them out of League One at the first attempt next term. And while Ramsey has been open about his plans to go down the management route in the future, the former Arsenal star is not yet ready to consider hanging up his boots - and he isn't convinced he can do both at the same time.
Speaking ahead of the Bluebirds' season finale against Norwich City, Ramsey admitted: "One day I would like to be in this position [being a manager].

Ramsey, who has made no secret of his desire to continue playing ahead of the 2026 World Cup, would not be drawn on whether he will continue at Cardiff next season. He is out of contract in June and is currently injured.
Cardiff's owner, Vincent Tan, released a statement this week hitting back at accusations from the fanbase that he 'doesn't care' about the club. And Ramsey offered his view point ahead of what is likely to be his final match in the Bluebirds dugout for the foreseeable future, saying: "The conversations I've had, it's evident he does care.
"We can all agree this season has not been good enough. Things need to be put in place in order to bounce back from this. Hopefully those things do take place now and we can move forward from this position. It's a fantastic opportunity for us.
"I've had a few conversations with him throughout the few years I've been here. They've all been similar. He has not been around as much as fans would want, but from the conversations I have with him, I know he is invested in the club and watches the games. He wants the best for this club.
"It's about putting all that into action. You haven't got someone here day to day, being amongst the place, someone has to link all that and put things into place that it needs."
