Jake Paul's promotional company has finally released a statement after his next opponent Gervonta Davis was accused of battery, false imprisonment and kidnapping by an ex-girlfriend.
Paul and Davis are due to fight in an exhibition bout in Miami on November 14, despite Davis operating at lightweight and Paul at cruiserweight. The fight would not be added to their professional record but a winner would be declared, either by stoppage, or by two human judges and an AI official if the bout went the distance.
But the accusations levelled at Davis have seen calls for the fight to be cancelled. Reports this weekend suggested Paul has reached out to Ryan Garcia to replace Davis. But a statement from his promotional company Most Valuable Promotions suggest no decision has been made.
The statement read: "Most Valuable Promotions immediately initiated an investigation upon learning of the civil lawsuit filed against Gervonta Davis in Miami-Dade County on October 30, 2025. At this time, we are gathering information and reviewing the details to ensure any decision we make is thoroughly vetted.
"We unequivocally condemn any form of violence and are committed to handling this matter with diligence and respect for all involved. We will make a determination on next steps once we have completed our review and consulted with the appropriate parties. Until then, we will not be commenting further. "
Davis has yet to respond to the accusations, but his trainer Calvin Ford described them as "nonsense". According to the lawsuit, Davis attacked ex-partner Courtney Rossel art her place of work on October 27 and had previously threatened to kill her. Ms. Rossel also alleges Davis "physically assaulted and choked" her on at least four other occasions. She is seeking damages of $50,000 and a jury trial.
Garcia has since been ruled out of a potential fight with Paul with promoter Oscar De La Hoya saying: ""Let me tell you why this fight is not going to happen. Ryan Garcia fights for DAZN and Jake Paul fights on Netflix. Golden Boy has a contract with DAZN. Ryan Garcia has a contract with Golden Boy."
Paul could now push his return to the ring back to December and has previously been linked with heavyweight Anthony Joshua. But it is unlikely a deal could be resurrected at such short notice.
