'Vinted buyer kept lowballing me so I got brilliantly petty revenge'
A woman was left baffled when someone kept sending her offers on Vinted, despite the fact that she tried to set her boundaries - so she got the perfect petty revenge
Vinted is a great place to bag a bargain because you can offer exactly what you want to a person, as long as you don't go less than 40% off the original asking price. But when one woman kept receiving messages asking her to drop the price of an item further and further, she knew that she had to be petty and get revenge on them for being so cheeky.
Annabel, who posts on TikTok with the username @annabelsarahlouise, shared she "couldn't believe" she'd gone this far with the potential buyer, admitting she didn't know whether she "regretted it". However, social media users said that she'd done the right thing to deter the rude user.
Annabel said she felt "really guilty," despite the fact that many TikTokers had told her to do it if people were getting too big for their boots on the app.
She shared she'd put a brand new with tags Nike backpack and pencil case on for £22.50. Annabel said it had "loads of interest," likely due to the "time of year" she'd uploaded it, as kids were going back to school.
Rather than offer, however, someone messaged her saying: "£15 please?"
Annabel knew she could "get more for it," so she decided to reply politely declining the offer. She wrote: "Sorry, I'm already getting so much interest, so £20 is the lowest".
"So, in my head, I've made my position clear. £20 is my lowest offer," she explained.
However, the potential buyer didn't take the hint, and asked: "£17 please?"
Annabel tried to remain professional and polite still, replying: "Hiya, sorry but I'm getting loads of interest already on this bag and Vinted has told me it sells for £25 usually, so £20 is already a bargain! It also comes with a free pencil case".
But this didn't make the potential buyer think twice before messaging: "£18 please?"
Annabel was fed up by this point, and so got petty revenge by offering a higher price of £25.
She said she "really appreciates" people saying please and being polite, but she knew that they were taking things too far.
Annabel said she found it "really disrespectful" that the person continued to offer lower prices, even though she made it "clear" that £20 was the lowest she would accept.
So, she increased the price for them as other Vinted users had told her to do it. However, she did say she felt "really bad" but she "didn't know what else to do".
Annabel said that the messages stopped after she increased the price, so it did work as a deterrent for "annoying low ball offerers".
In the comments, people reassured her she hadn't done anything wrong, saying that they "block" users "who offer three times".
"Just ignore them and delete the chat in future," someone penned. "I always offer back £300 if they offer 40% off," another joked.
