'I'm convinced husband is hiding huge secret after finding compelling evidence'

A woman is convinced her husband and best friend are hiding a huge secret from her after she found compelling evidence to suggest they may have conspired against her

If you've ever been lied to by a loved one, you'll know how much it hurts. It isn't just the lie itself that hurts to uncover, but depending on how long they kept it for you and how big the secret they're hiding is, it can tear relationships apart and make you wonder if you ever really knew the person you were supposed to be in a partnership with.

But one woman has claimed that uncovering her husband's betrayal is one of the worst things she's ever experienced - as it unravelled a lie that both he and her best friend have been keeping from her for 25 years. In a post on Reddit, she said she doesn't have solid proof of the lie just yet, but she's seen compelling evidence that suggests he's been keeping something huge from her for over two decades.

She claims that her "lifelong best friend" actually had a baby with her husband 25 years ago and the pair have never told her the truth about the girl's father.

In her post, she explained she had been in the delivery room 25 years ago when her best friend gave birth, and said she gave her daughter up for adoption as she wasn't ready to be a mother. However, 16 years later, her daughter sought her out and the pair formed a connection.

But when her best friend showed her a picture of her now-teenage daughter, the woman was gobsmacked. The teenager looked exactly like a "female version" of her husband, whom she had since divorced for unrelated reasons.

She confronted her friend about it at the time, and she admitted she did sleep with the woman's husband back when the pair were still married, but she insisted there was no way her daughter could be his.

The woman wrote: "Fast-forward nine years. The girl, now a young woman, keeps showing up on Facebook as a person I may know. Out of curiosity, I click on her profile and the present-day [profile] picture. It's like I'm looking at a female version of my ex-husband and a female version of my son, whom I share with my ex-husband.

"They're also the same age and pregnant at the same time. Go figure."

She went on to say she has "made peace" with her ex-husband and believes he's a great father to their two sons. They still get along when they attend events their children are involved in, and there's no bad blood between them.

However, she is not friends with the other woman anymore. She claimed she cut her off some time ago "just for being nasty," but she isn't sure how to proceed now that she's convinced her husband has a secret daughter.

The woman said she doesn't think her husband knows about his potential daughter, and claimed that several years ago, the young woman wanted to know who her father was, but was unable to track him down.

Commenters on the post said that while they understood her desire not to "meddle", if she believes she has important information, she should tell her ex-husband and get him to take a DNA test - or at least to look at the woman's Facebook profile to see the similarities for himself.

One person said: "If you guys are civil and co-parent well, maybe since it's been 25 years, it's time to tell him. [Just say] 'Hey, [my] ex-best friend's biological daughter looks a lot like you and the boys, you might want to at least scoop out her socials and see for yourself'.

"It puts the ball in his court on what he wants to do, and you're not carrying what you emotionally feel is a big secret."

Another added: "I think you should let him know the situation. Tell him that you’re aware that they were both intimate during that time and that she had a daughter. If he were a great father, he would reach out and potentially take a DNA test.

"You carry information that can bring someone closure on who their bio dad is. People don't realise how serious that is. I would be more vocal about it if I knew. Especially if this woman is a half-sibling to my child."
