Nestle gives statement after being told to 'bring back most delicious bar of the 90s’
A campaign from chocolate lovers has branded it 'the best chocolate bar'
Chocolate giant Nestle Uk has issued a statement on the possible return of what fans a have described as the ‘most delicious bar of the 90s’. Calls are growing for the ‘Secret Bar’ to be brought back.
One mum on x asked Nestle: “Will you ever bring back Secret bars? Please... I’ve been explaining to my 17 year old how amazing they were and she’s in agreement with me that they sound delicious!!! Xxx.”
And a petition has started on Change.org is calling for the bar to be brought back. Petition starter Ian French said: “Rowntrees Mackintosh launched one of the most delicious and most memorable Chocolate bars during the early 90s. They discontinued it in the late 90s for reasons of unpopularity, which shocked many fans of this delicious treat.
“Despite the many years that have passed since then, the UK has developed it’s attention on more retro items and snacks which we look upon with fondness and a strong desire to experience again.
“Cadbury’s relaunch of the Wispa bar due to public campaigning is testament to the strong influence of retro memories, and it would be foolish and blinkered of Nestlé to ignore the retro appeal by the masses. There is much evidence to support this statement which can be found all over social media that celebrate fond memories of past decades, as well as websites such as Snackspot.
“Because of this, I feel it is time to show Nestlé Rowntrees that there is enough public support to desire a relaunch of the much desired Secret chocolate bar, possibly even more so now than ever before due to the retro and hipster movement that has taken the nation by storm.
“I have created this petition to gather support from the public to relaunch the chocolate bar, and show Nestlé Rowntrees that there is a huge market out there waiting to buy it.”
The petition, which can be viewed here, has gathered 3,472signatures. On X Bryony asked Nestle: “@NestleUKI will you ever bring back Secret bars? Please... I’ve been explaining to my 17 year old how amazing they were and she’s in agreement with me that they sound delicious!!! Xxx”
Simon said: “I’d like it if Nestlé Secret bars were brought back! I remember they came out when I was at primary school in the late 80s.”
Jane added: “Nestle Secret chocolate bar. It was the best chocolate bar. Tiny strands of chocolate wrapped round a core of chocolate mousse. It was the best.”
Siobhan said: "What really annoys me is that I try and explain this chocolate bar to people and the don’t remember it - but these were so popular back in the day!!!!
Sadly in an update on X to Bryony Nestle UK dashed the hopes of the chocolate fans: “We have no plans to bring them back at the moment, but we’ll pass your request on.”
