Remove shower limescale within minutes using 1 powerful yet natural item
Your shower head could be covered in limescale and grime, but there's a simple cleaning method that will banish it – and it only takes a few minutes, too.
Looking up during my shower, I was taken aback by the grimy build-up clogging the shower head.
It was time to tackle the limescale that had accumulated on the bathroom fixture.
In my cleaning cupboard, I already had an organic acid found naturally in citrus fruits. But instead of using lemons, which can be a bit messy, I opted for citric acid.
Available from shops like The Range and Wilko, as well as supermarkets, for as little as £1.49, it's a cleaning must-have.
This game-changer can be used for various household cleaning tasks, such as removing limescale from a kettle, laundry, cleaning oven trays, and of course, the shower head.
Following the instructions, I simply placed the shower head into a suitable container - in my case, a bucket - and sprinkled two scoops of citric acid onto the fixture.
The next step involved pouring a litre of boiling water (from the kettle) over the appliance coated in citric acid.
I left this potent cleaning mix to work its magic for 10 minutes, during which time the limescale disappeared and grime fell off the shower head.
Once the time was up, I gave the shower head a quick scrub with a kitchen scourer (one of my favourite tools).
After emptying the water, the shower head looked sparkling clean and brand new - hopefully good for another few weeks.
Having tried white vinegar and lemons on cleaning my shower head in previous cleaning jobs, I must say, citric acid is my personal favourite.
It's so simple, easy, and does the job, which makes the next cleaning session seem less of a chore.
