Robins will flock to your garden and keep coming back when they see 1 item they love on a tray

Robins are a common sight in gardens across the UK, and there are certain foods you can leave out to attract them

As the seasons shift and autumn paints the landscape, one constant source of joy in your garden, apart from vibrant flowers, is the sight of robins. With their iconic red breasts and charming demeanour, they bring a splash of colour to what can often be rather grey days.

If you're keen on inviting robins into your garden, food is your best bet. Like any creature, tasty grub is a sure-fire way to lure robins into your green space, and there are certain snacks they simply can't resist.

According to the avian aficionados at Beaky Bites, there's one common food item they adore - sunflower hearts.

They asserted that sunflower hearts are "healthy options robins love". These foods supply the proteins and fats they require, reports the Express.

The experts further added, "Sunflower hearts are particularly nutritious and are a robin favourite during breeding season. They are not only healthy but also very attractive to robins."

Feeding techniques are just as crucial as the food itself. Employing the right feeding methods can significantly enhance your chances of attracting robins to your garden.

You can present sunflower hearts by scattering them on the ground or in platform feeders.

Since robins have a preference for ground feeding, ground feeding trays are "the best method" to distribute food.

Robins favour ground feeding, which means they will feed from trays placed on the ground or directly off the ground itself amongst the grass. This aligns with their natural feeding habits and makes them feel more comfortable and secure.

Apart from sunflower hearts, suet pellets are a fantastic way to draw in robins. Suet provides the fat and energy that robins require to stay warm and active, particularly during the chillier months.

Suet can be served in different forms like suet balls and cakes, which are simple for the birds to consume and savour.

Mixing suet with sunflower hearts creates a nutritious and delicious feast for robins.
