'I tried Terry's Chocolate Orange Baileys and was surprised by one thing'

Social News Assistant Editor Samantha Bartlett got her hands on a bottle of the new Baileys x Terry’s Chocolate Orange Irish Cream Liqueur. She gave it a taste to see if it was any good

It's that time of year again where a lot of us like to get a Terry's Chocolate Orange out as the festive season approaches. However, instead of the usual chocolate product, lovers of the classic treat can try something brand new this year – a Terry's Chocolate Orange Baileys flavour.

The new limited edition Baileys x Terry’s Chocolate Orange Irish Cream Liqueur, which is available nationwide both online and in stores with an RRP of £11, combines the velvety taste of Baileys Original Irish Cream with Terry’s signature chocolate and zesty orange. However, is it any good? Luckily for me, I got my hands on a bottle to try ahead of the festive season to see if I'd be swapping for chocolate for it, and I have to admit I was surprised about one thing during the taste test.

Now a lot of people like to drink their Baileys neat over ice, however, I always prefer to make mine into a little cocktail, even if it's just with milk.

Wanting to get the full flavour experience, I tried the Terry's chocolate version with both milk and on it's own, and the first thing that struck me was how pale it was.

I just thought that because it was a chocolate version, it would be brown so I was surprised to see it was a pale cream colour like the original Baileys flavour.

Upon tasting it, I definitely could get the lovely zesty orange flavour, however I do think I would have enjoyed more chocolate tones from it too, but that might just be because I'm a bit of a chocaholic.

Those who do want a more chocolatey taste could try mixing it with chocolate milk, which I haven't done yet but definitely plan to do.

Despite the need for a bit more chocolate from me, I definitely still enjoyed the product and think it would make a great Christmas present for a loved one or a friend.

It's also worth keeping a bottle in the cupboard for a fancy festive after-dinner cocktails, as it would go great paired with a dessert if you added a bit of whipped cream and some chocolate shavings on top.

People online certainly seem to be excited about the flavour after the official Baileys Instagram page revealed it back in September.

One person exclaimed: "Oh my God, I need this," while another said it was "so good".

A third chimed in: "Can not get over this."

I'm not sure I'm quite ready to give up my Terry's Chocolate Orange itself yet, however I'm definitely keep to have a glass of the new Baileys version alongside it, that's for sure.
