'I tried Costa's Christmas menu and would definitely recommend three items'

Costa Christmas is officially here, and Senior Social News Reporter Danielle Kate Wroe was lucky enough to sample many of the goodies on offer - and she has three favourites

It's officially the time of year when Costa cups turn Christmassy, and it gives you a little buzz when you get your drink of choice to see the adorable design. It also means there are festive sandwiches aplenty, yummy drinks galore, and there are many treats that will satisfy those with a sweet tooth.

Definitely best served when you're looking to treat yourself, the Costa menu includes brand new offerings - and everything sounds absolutely amazing. I was lucky enough to try all the savoury options, and many of the drinks and desserts, as some of them blew me away.

Savoury offerings

This year, Costa is offering a Brie, Bacon, and Cranberry Panini, Pigs and Blankets Toastie, Turkey Trimmings Toastie, and a Turkey Feast Sandwich.

I must admit, when I heard about the brie and bacon panini, my ears pricked up in excitement, as brie is a cheese I certainly cannot resist at Christmas time. However, this panini really did lack brie and was a little bit dry, which I was sad about.

Something that wasn't dry was the Turkey Trimmings Toastie - definitely my favourite of the lot. It was so moist, which is just what you want from something turkey-based, and it tasted so nice too. I'd highly recommend this one!

Sweet treats

From the sweet treats on the menu, I tried the Caramel Nutcracker Cookie Sandwich and the Chocolate and Caramel Nutcracker Cake.

The cake was absolutely amazing, and if I pop in Costa again before the menu leaves, I'd definitely have this again! It was delicious, moist, and you could really taste the caramel. I also liked how the middle of the cake wasn't chocolatey, as it provided a bit of a contrast to the super chocolatey layers.

This isn't me saying I wouldn't recommend the cookie sandwich - that was also very tasty. But the cake just pipped the cookie to the post for the most tasty dessert, in my opinion.

Drinks

I tried the Mint Hot Chocolate, Terry's Chocolate Orange Hot Chocolate, Caramel Nutcracker drink, which I had iced, and the new Butter Pecan Cookie Latte.

The mint hot chocolate and Terry's hot chocolate were nice, but I didn't think that they were anything particularly special compared to other hot chocolates. The Terry's Chocolate Orange one was preferred for me.

However, the Caramel Nutcracker iced latte was absolutely amazing, and I genuinely loved it. I'm a bit weird in the sense that I don't love loads of cream and sprinkles on the top of drinks, so next time, I'd probably forgo this addition - but the actual drink itself was yummy and I'd certainly recommend! You can have it hot, too.

However, the Butter Pecan Cookie Latte, as amazing as it sounds, did nothing for me. It just tasted like weak coffee, unfortunately.

Overall, the Caramel Nutcracker range is where it's at for me, and I'd give it a go if I were you!
