Floors will shine and smell 'so good' with homemade cleaner that removes grime

One expert shared her simple three-ingredient cleaning mix which will make your floors 'so fresh' as well as getting rid of any streaks.

Mopping the floors is undoubtedly one of the most rewarding chores around the house. Once you've wiped down the surfaces and hoovered, giving the floor a good mop and watching that brilliant shine appear makes all the effort feel worthwhile.

However, it's not always easy. Depending on how you tackle it and what products you use, your newly cleaned floor can sometimes still look streaky or dull even after mopping.

But cleaning expert and mum Chantel Mila says you can solve this issue with one homemade mixture that's incredibly simple to make.

The pro, who boasts over 1.6 million followers on TikTok, revealed her trick for 'sparkling' floors that keep their shine well after you've finished mopping them.

It's very easy, and you only need three ingredients to make the DIY cleaning mixture which you've likely already got sitting in your cupboards, reports the Express.

Not only will it clean your floors, but it'll also leave your house smelling 'incredible'. Followers in the comments have been hailing the straightforward tip, with one posting: "Just used this little mix and my floors came up stunning."

Another commented: "I bet that smells so good."

Here's how you can give it a go at home.

How to clean your floors

First, grab a large bucket or bowl and add three cups of boiling water, followed by a quarter cup of white vinegar and a teaspoon of washing up liquid. This is what's going to give the mixture its pleasant fragrance, so make sure you pick the scent carefully.

Then, if you fancy it, you can add in a few drops of your favourite essential oils for an extra burst of freshness. However, Chantel warned people to be careful when using these, as they can damage certain kinds of flooring or be harmful to pets, so make sure you test it out on a small hidden area first.

You can also add rubbing alcohol if you like, but again, take care when doing this. Chantel added in the comments: "Always patch test before using on your flooring as every flooring is different. This mix is suitable for non-pourous tiles and laminate."

Then, use this mix to mop your floors, which will make them smell 'so good' as well as getting rid of any annoying streaks. It'll also remove 'so much hidden grime', which was obvious to see when Chantel tipped the dirty mop bucket water away.
