Netflix's most-watched non-English film gets huge update and fans are thrilled
One of the most popular international films of the past decade is getting a highly anticipated sequel very soon
Netflix’s most popular original film not in an English language is getting a sequel - and it’s arriving sooner than you think.
Originally released in 2022, Roar Uthaug’s epic Norwegian monster film Troll became a huge surprise hit for the streaming platform.
With 103,000,000 views in its first 91 days of release, it’s Netflix’s biggest international release, beating out recent hits such as Under Paris and Society of the Snow.
A sequel was announced back in 2023 and fans finally have their first look at the carnage coming to screens in Troll 2, releasing Monday, 1st December.
As subscribers head into the chilly winter months, this snowy Nordic creature feature is shaping up to be the perfect guilty pleasure for fans who like their holidays with a generous helping of action.
Netflix’s synopsis for the thrilling sequel confirms: “A new troll has awakened!
“Join Nora (played by Ine Marie Wilmann), Andreas (Kim S. Falck-Jørgensen), and Captain Kris (Mads Sjøgård Pettersen) as they embark on their most dangerous adventure yet.
“With the clock ticking and chaos spreading, they’ll need new allies and ancient secrets to stop the rampage. Can they save Norway before it’s too late?”
A bombastic new trailer has confirmed the release date and given viewers a tantalising glimpse at the destruction to come.
The first footage kicks off at a ski resort when a gigantic troll interrupts a night of clubbing by literally raising the roof and snatching up tourists.
It then ups the ante even further when Nora is recruited by a shadowy organisation who are keeping one of the behemoths, dubbed ‘Megatroll’, in captivity.
However, when it escapes and goes on a deadly rampage of revenge, Nora and her team must work together and resort to some desperate measures to save countless lives.
Fans of the first film are already pumped for the next chapter and have taken to the comments to share their excitement.
“WE ARE SO BACK!!!” one user exclaimed in the YouTube comments. “I’ll always be the biggest fan of the first one, and I already know I’m gonna love the second one.”

Sky is giving away a free Netflix subscription with its new Sky Stream TV bundles, including the £15 Essential TV plan.
This lets members watch live and on-demand TV content without a satellite dish or aerial and includes hit shows like Monster: The Ed Gein Story.
Someone else commented: “So glad they're doing another film of this! The first one was great fun.
“Norway has so many things to bounce off for inspiration and storytelling. As long as they [keep] pushing the storytelling and bring in mythology I think this could do quite well!”
And a third said: “More kaiju troll madness! With a monster brawl too! Oh This is gonna be FUN!”
Are you looking forward to more Troll mayhem coming to streaming this December?
Troll 2 will be released Monday, 1st December on Netflix.
