Fortnite is a live service, free-to-play title from Epic Games that has hugely evolved from its initial format, that offered players a PvE Save the World, and a PvP battle royale mode. Available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch, the game was actually a huge driver in seeing Sony and Microsoft enable cross-platform play industry-wide, due to its popularity and gamers wanting to play with one another across different platforms.
The game also had a mobile version on the App Store and Google Play Store, but was pulled from both storefronts when Epic Games added direct payment options to circumvent Apple and Google's 30% cut from in-app sales.. However, after a long (and ongoing) court case, Fortnite mobile is making a comeback on both iOS and Android in different regions, and is available in the App Store in the US and Europe, and through the Epic Games Store on Android.
Fortnite continues its massive crossovers via its seasonal content and is currently collaborating with Disney to create a metaverse within the game. Meanwhile the game itself has expanded to include 10 modes including two Lego modes and Rocket Racing.
