Kate Middleton wears red Jenny Packham dress to show off her baby boy in echo of Princess Diana

The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to her third child on April 23, 2018

The wait for the arrival of royal baby number three is over as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge showed off their new bundle of joy to the world, as the couple left the Lindo Wing at St Mary's hospital on Monday afternoon.

Kate gave birth to a baby boy on April 23, 2018 at 11.01 am weighing 8lbs, 7oz.

The Duchess looked a picture of radiance in a Jenny Packham raspberry red shift dress with a white lace Peter Pan collar, as she held her newborn baby in her arms to greet the excited crowds of people, who have been waiting to meet the new Prince.

Despite giving birth just hours before, Kate looked immaculate as ever, with her locks styled into her signature bouncy blowdry - thanks to hairstylist Amanda Cook Turner.

After the Duchess gave birth to Prince George in 2013 and Princess Charlotte in 2015, she also opted to wear British fashion favourite Jenny Packham on both occasions .

She sported a cornflower blue polka dot dress for her first born and a sunny yellow floral shift frock to introduce middle child Charlotte.

Interestingly she chose a bold colour for her third baby, as opposed to pastels like previous. However it appeared to be a fitting tribute to Princess Diana, who wore a similar red outfit with a Peter Pan collar, to introduce Prince Harry to the world in 1984.

But one thing that has remained a constant is Kate's classic nude shoes, she teamed her frock with her praline Gianvito Rossi suede pumps.

The Duchess completed her look with the Queen's diamond and pearl drop earrings.

In another touching move, the newborn Prince was wrapped up in a white blanket by G H Hurt & Son - the Nottingham based brand, who also made shawls for George and Charlotte when they were born.

While the newborn's name has not been announced yet, Arthur appears to be a favourite with the bookies.

Betfair spokesperson Katie Baylis said: “Arthur continues to head the market and the odds on the name have shortened into 2/1 from 3/1 after the birth of the bab

“James and Phillip are second favourites at 4/1, with James proving particularly punters this morning, which has meant we have had to cut those odds from 5/1 earlier today.
