Kelly Osbourne paid tribute to dad Ozzy - describing the rock legend as "the best friend I ever had".

The Black Sabbath legend, known to millions as The Prince of Darkness, died on Tuesday aged 76, weeks after playing his final ever gig in his home city of Birmingham. Since then, tributes have poured in to the music legend, and his daughter Kelly, 40, today wrote online: "I lost the best friend I ever had".

Ozzy family statement and tributes

In a statement, the Osbourne family, including Kelly and Ozzy's wife Sharon, had said: "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.

"He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis." Ozzy's former Black Sabbath bandmates have also issued moving statements.

Sharon is said to have been left utterly devastated over Ozzy's death and heartbroken over the death of her best friend. While Ozzy's sisters have shared their heartbreak at their brother's death, hailing him as "loving and funny".

Heartbroken fans have since been leaving tributes outside his Buckinghamshire home, with flowers and loving message laid outside the gates. Half-drunk pints and bottles of beer have also been left alongside candles as mourners toast the rock icon on Birmingham's Black Sabbath bridge.

In the wake of his sad death, details surrounding his final hours have emerged as it's been reported air ambulance crew flew to the Black Sabbath star's mansion in Buckinghamshire and worked for two hours to save his life.

Ozzy's health struggles

The Changes musician was suffering from Parkinson's disease in the lead-up to his death. He underwent a strict training programme in order to be able to headline a huge show in Birmingham's Villa Park called Back To The Beginning on July 5.

In the build-up to the show, Ozzy’s wife Sharon said: “Ozzy's working with his therapist every single day. He's doing really well, actually. Ozzy's number one thing in life is his fans, so he's working hard to be ready for them, to make this show the perfect way to end things."

Last year, Ozzy was not well enough to perform at the band's Rock'N'Roll Hall of Fame induction in America. At the Back To The Beginning show, Ozzy performed on a black throne as he was unable to stand.

Ozzy, who has undergone multiple back and neck surgeries, moved in a specialist rehab therapist in Los Angeles to try to help him stand for several minutes on stage, walk more freely and feel better balanced.

Final Black Sabbath show

It comes just weeks after his youngest daughter, Kelly, became engaged in front of Ozzy and Sharon at the Back To The Beginning concert at Villa Park. In the days after his Villa Park show, Ozzy also met dedicated fans who had spent hours queuing up to see him at Comic Con Midlands, alongside his wife Sharon, daughter Kelly, and son Jack.

A fan who met Ozzy at Comic Con admitted he felt "numb" following the news that the musician had died. Singer Pip Marsh was one of the few fans who were able to get a picture with the Prince of Darkness and explained that growing up, he always felt a connection to Osbourne due to living in close proximity to Ozzy's hometown.

Just moments after Ozzy's death was confirmed by his family, BBC Radio 1 broadcaster Jack Saunders interrupted his regular programme to deliver the news. The presenter was visibly emotional as she shared the news, while explaining how much of a huge fan he was of the legendary rocker.

Moment Ozzy surprised Sharon with flowers live on air goes viral

A sweet clip of Ozzy surprising Sharon on her birthday live on air back in 2016 has gone viral after the Black Sabbath legend's death.

Panellist Sharon had been appearing on US talkshow The View when a very familiar shout backstage interrupted her. Shocked, she looked around and mouthed the words "oh no" before Ozzy walked out with a bouquet of pink flowers.

As rock music played in the background, her co-stars laughed and Sharon buried her head in her hands. He grabbed her for a hug and gave her a kiss, with Sharon laughing over the moment. He went on to pop out a jewellery box to gift her.

Fans have flocked to social media to comment on the video, with one writing: "Ozzy was great, even with all his faults. And Sharon was a saint for staying with him throughout the years. She stayed through the good, the bad, the ugly and until the end. She knew what it took to be a Rocker's wife and she did it with decorum. SHE needs to be the one who is remembered in the Rock n Roll hall of fame right NEXT to Ozzy."

During last night's episode, viewers watched a chat between Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) and Callum Highway (Tony Clay) as they spoke about the women's football results. The BBC soap had clearly initally slotted in the time to address the Lionness' sem-final game.

After being quizzed on how she felt handing over the Queen Vic to Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace), she replied: "Well, I can’t be too down after that England match. I mean, 2-1?"

She continued: "I’m going to tell you something, there’s going to be a lot of kids named Michelle and Chloe in nine months time."

However, there was also a nod to Ozzy with Black Sabbath's Paranoid heard playing in the background in the market.

One fan tweeted: "Loved the mention of the footie & hearing Ozzy singing in the background. Well done #eastenders."

Ozzy's adopted son Elliot living quiet life in New Zealand

Ozzy's adopted son is living a world away from the glam showbiz life most of the Osbournes have been living in over the past many decades.

Elliot, who was left out of the joint family statement announcing Ozzy's death, has instead opted for a quiet life as an IT technicial in New Zealand.

According to the Mail, Elliot - who is the son of Ozzy's first wife Thelma Riley - left the UK five years ago for a life in Wellington with his wife Joanne Crawford.

Elliot and Joanne lived in Birmingham until 2002 before they relocated to Bathgate, West Lohan, until 2013. He currently works as a Level One Helpdesk and Support Technician in Victoria, New Zealand. Ozzy 'ready to go' after battling physical torment and trauma

Ozzy Osbourne had struggled to cope with his daily pain and Parkinson’s disease as he battled through physical torment and trauma to stay alive for his farewell concert.

Former The Sex Pistols guitarist and long term friend Steve Jones addressed the Prince of Darkness' issues as he reflected on his death.

Speaking to the Mirror, Steve said: "I knew Oz, he was a legend and he was brilliant. It is sad, but I think he was holding on until he got that Aston Villa last show out of it, and I think he just said, okay, ‘I’m ready to go’.

"So I don't think he was having any quality of life. Ozzy, I think I would've probably wanted to go if my life was physically like his."

He likened Ozzy’s drive to perform with Black Sabbath and his solo tracks at the Back to the Beginning show at Villa Park to another pal’s departure.

“It reminded me of when Johnny Ramon was living in LA and I was there and I had a radio show there too. It was a similar thing where he had this one show he wanted to have people do an ode to him. He wasn't there, but he was watching it, Once that was over he let it go and died a couple of days later.“

"You have been my North Star for everything for as long as I can remember from when I was misunderstood as a child to the way people thought I was just a little 'too much' or 'strange' in my life and career.

Osbourne family nanny on what it was really like living with Ozzy

A nanny who worked for the Osbourne family in 1996 by looking after Sharon and Ozzy's three teenage children has opened up on what it was really like living with the Black Sabbath legend.

Melbourne artist Jessie Breakwell spoke to the Sydney Morning Herald described Ozzy as the "funniest guy" and "switched on". She told the publication: "He was always kind, he had time for everybody and made you feel really welcome."

She recalled Ozzy - who didn't drive - turning his own music on in the car, opening up the sunroof and singing.

Jessie continued: "For a week he’d just be drawing all week, the next he’d have a cycling obsession, so he’d put the bike in the loungeroom and be cycling for days, or he’d decide he would only eat steak and he’d have 50 steaks a day."

She also said that she was treated like one of the family and if the Osbournes were flying first-class, she'd be with them. However, the former nanny said that while Sharon and Ozzy were quite close with Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson, who came around a lot, they weren't hugely social.

"They were very family oriented. It wasn’t like they were having parties all the time," she said.

PETA slammed over Ozzy tribute

PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has issued a gushing tribute to Ozzy following his death, as they praised him for his support to animals.

However, they have been met with backlash as some thought Ozzy's infamous incident with a bat went against what PETA stands for.

The rock icon bit the head off a live bat during a Black Sabbath show decades ago, with the moment going down in music history.

Some hit out at PETA for their tribute as they declared "bats would like a word". One said: "'How dare you! He killed a bat on stage by biting off it's head! How do you support such things!?!?!?"

Another added: "I honestly thought this was a satire account posting this," while someone else asked: "Are you kidding me?"

PETA's statement read: "Ozzy Osbourne was a legend and a provocateur, but PETA will remember the “Prince of Darkness” most fondly for the gentle side he showed to animals - most recently cats, by using his fame to decry painful, crippling declawing mutilations.

"Ozzy may have been the singer, but his wife, Sharon, and his daughter, Kelly, were of one voice when it meant protecting animals. Ozzy will be missed by animal advocates the world over."

Poignant photo of Ozzy is shared

He said: "John Osbourne has left the stage - I cannot imagine a World without him. In the world I work in Ozzy is omnipresent . It will be so strange not to see him again, I honestly don’t know what to write …. So some photographs - ones that I like ."

'Ozzy's death is like losing a brother'

The pair met at school in Aston, Birmingham before shooting to stardom together. They remained best friends for 57 years, and now Tony has spoke out since Ozzy's death.

"It's been difficult, because it's just a shock really. I haven't been able to get myself organised properly since hearing this. It's been really strange," he said.

Tony added that he had spoke to bandmate Geezer Butler, who expressed a similar feeling. "He's much the same, just can't pull yourself together. It really has affected us bad," he said.

"I find it difficult at the moment to really accept that. I still think he's there, I still go to text him and stuff - [but] he's not there any more."

"It's dead easy to start a forest fire in this game. You say 'Ozzy's got a false nose.' All of a sudden, everyone looks the same. Same thing with Oasis. Everyone just kept saying it and it stuck."

Those heading to Wembley believe a tribute to Ozzy is an inevitable addition to the show. One fan predicted: "Big picture of him during Live Forever at the next show, guarantee it."

"Also, Ozzy wants to have sex with you while he is singing Iron Man. Big Kiss, Sharon." Alongside his post, he said: "Regrets I've had a few -this is one - (not the sex part!) Ozzy will always be one of the greatest, natural , brilliant singers of all time. I send much love and strength to his family at this sad sad time.

The rock icon told friends at the shoot the focus of his life “was dedicated to being with the family and grandchildren”. Emotional Ozzy told a raft of superstar performers that his grandson Sid will follow in his footsteps as an entertainer.

The 76-year-old had built a terrific bond with the two-year-old, whose mother is the Black Sabbath rocker’s daughter, Kelly. Friends of the star say Ozzy boasted that Sidney, who was born in November 2022, already showed signs of having musical talent during his visits. One musician, who asked not to be named, recalled how Ozzy "could not stop beaming as he spoke about Sidney and how he doted on the kid".

The insider told the Mirror: “Ozzy just loved boasting about Sidney’s talent and voice. There was a real bond between them when he had him on his lap fooling around and laughing. Birmingham's plans to build on Ozzy's legacy

West Midlands mayor Richard Parker has said that Ozzy Osbourne's hometown of Birmingham will build on the Black Sabbath icon's legacy.

He said at the Black Sabbath mural on Navigation Street: "He’s one of us, there is an enormous amount of pride – he was forged by this place and he put this place on the map, and everyone could relate to him.

"I want other creatives like him in the city to be in a position where they can also reach to the stars and build profiles that will help put this city on the global map."

Describing the location of Black Sabbath's first performance - The Crown pub - as a huge part of that heritage, he said: "We need to find a way of building on that legacy. Where we are standing, we’re not very far from The Crown and I’m hoping that the work the city council is doing with other campaigners and with the owners of that property, we can also make The Crown a fitting tribute to the legend and the legacy of Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath."

Kelly Osbourne's powerful act after Ozzy's Parkinson's diagnosis

Ozzy Osbourne credited his youngest daughter Kelly with having helped him after he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. The musician spoke about her whilst sharing the diagnosis five years ago.

The Black Sabbath legend was diagnosed with the condition in 2019 and continued to raise awareness of the condition, which can include a range of symptoms, in the years since then and has been praised by two charities this week following the news of his death on Tuesday.

In an interview on Good Morning America, he and Sharon were joined by their children Kelly and Jack. It was revealed that Kelly had helped her dad Ozzy, who had experienced a "bad fall" shortly before his Parkinson's diagnosis, "get back on his feet" and into the recording studio.

Following the news of his diagnosis, Kelly said: "We just kept going everyday and the magic that happens, I think, when you're in pain ..." Ozzy, pointing at his youngest daughter, interrupted her to say: "She's the one! If it wasn't for her I'd be still lying up on the couch."

Kelly said: "The only thing I know when it comes to my dad is what can I do to make him smile and I know that going to the studio makes him happy. So I got him up and got him to the studio, and that's all I did. Everything else was him."

'I met Ozzy and Sharon - one thing struck me about them as a couple'

Journalist Celia Walden, Piers Morgan's wife, has opened up about how Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne welcomed her into their home over a decade ago, giving her an insight into their relationship.

Celia met up with the couple in their LA home in 2009 and recalled that she had "rarely seen a more besotted couple".

Speaking in the Telegraph, she said Ozzy told her that Sharon having the same "extreme personality" issues was one of the things that first attracted him to her. Celia added: "I've rarely seen a couple more besotted – or dependent – on one another."

She remembered him looking over at his wife whilst she was feeding one of their dogs. Ozzy then said: "If it weren't for her, without a shadow of a doubt I would be dead. My lady's the greatest; I love her."

Moment Ozzy's 'secret' daughter delivered bombshell news on show

Ozzy Osbourne was a loving dad of six to Kelly, Aimee and Jack with wife Sharon, and Louis, Jessica and Elliot with his first wife Thelma Riley.

While Kelly, Aimee, Jack and Louis all appeared on the statement announcing Ozzy's death, Jessica and Louis were notably absent.

Not much is known about Ozzy's relationship with Elliot, but the Black Sabbath legend was estranged from eldest daughter Jessica. Back in 2011, she spoke of her "very erratic childhood" with her dad.

She did, however, make an appearance during an episode of the family's reality show The Osbournes, when Ozzy was told that Jessica's husband Ben would be in touch when their baby was born.

Later, Ozzy revealed that he had become a grandfather for the first time and Jessica had had a baby daughter named Isabelle. When one of Kelly's friends quipped that he was a "little grandfather", he said back: "Don't f*****g say those words."

Jessica and Louis have remained largely out the spotlight but in the 2011 documentary film God Bless Ozzy Osbourne, the singer admitted that he couldn't really remember when Louis and Jessica were born.

"When he was around and he wasn't drunk, he was a great father," Louis said in the documentary, "But that was kind of seldom, really. I just have a lot of memories of him being drunk, random s**t like driving cars across fields and crashing them in the middle of the night and stuff like that. It's not good for family life, really."

Jessica, who was older than Louis, added: "I don't remember being put to bed or having a bath by dad or anything like that. I wouldn't say he was there for us, no, never on sports day, school trip, parents' evening. He wasn't like that, no."

'There's never gonna be another Ozzy again,' says emotional Gene Simmons

Kiss rocker Gene Simmons paid an emotional tribute to Ozzy on Wednesday evening, declaring that there won't be another Ozzy again.

Appearing on Piers Morgan Uncensored, he said: "There was never an Ozzy before, there's not gonna be another Ozzy later."

During the chat, host Piers said: "He was a great man for stage craft."

Interjecting, Gene said: "I couldn't shine his shoes."

"You're being very modest. You've also been one of the all-time great frontmen for a rock band and the way I think you're similar is you understood the power of stage craft and the costume and theatre and all those things," Piers said.

But Gene pointed out: "There's art and then there's real people."

Thousands sign petition to rename Birmingham Aiport after Ozzy

Thousands of Ozzy Osbourne fans have signed a petition to rename Birmingham Aiport after the Black Sabbath legend.

A Change.org petition calling for Birmingham International Airport to be renamed as 'Ozzy Osbourne International' has racked up 2,711 signatures following the rock icon's death earlier this week.

It reads: "Ozzy Osbourne is the most important musician ever to hail from Birmingham. He rose to fame as the lead vocalist of the pioneering rock band Black Sabbath, who invented the genre of heavy metal. Ozzy's influence on music and culture is undeniable. Naming our international airport after him would be a fitting tribute to his extraordinary career and contributions to the arts.

"Other airports in the UK are named after their famous children (George Best International Airport in Belfast, John Lennon Airport in Liverpool) so it is only right that we do this here in Birmingham, in honour of Ozzy.

"Together, we can celebrate the legacy of Ozzy Osbourne and the incredible influence our city has had on the world stage, thanks to him."

Fan Danny, who is one of many to sign the petition, wrote: "Let’s make this happen! Naming an airport after Ozzy Osbourne would be an incredible honor. He held a special place in the hearts of many people worldwide. It would be a fantastic way to pay tribute to his remarkable legacy. I believe a venue should also be named after Ozzy Osbourne. He was passionate about performing and being involved in music, and most importantly, he cherished his fans."

While another added: "Rip Ozzy! Please make this happen for him and his family!"

Lady Gaga's incredible Ozzy Osbourne tribute

Lady Gaga left fans in tears as she ended her San Francisco show on Tuesday with an incredible tribute to Ozzy Osbourne.

After her encore performance of How Bad Do U Want Me, Gaga was filmed wiping all her make-up off backstage. She then returned to the stage barefaced and wearing an Ozzy t-shirt before belting out 1970 Black Sabbath hit Crazy Town to the thousands in the crowd.

Amazed fans flocked to comment, with one writing: "I was there!! Amazing concert, wonderful tribute."

While another commented: "I was there! Absolutely epic!!"

A third wrote: "That’s such a classic Gaga move, bold, theatrical, and full of heart. Her tribute to Ozzy Osbourne during the Mayhem Ball was not only unexpected but also a perfect blend of rock energy and raw emotion. Stripping off her makeup before returning to the stage barefaced made the moment feel personal and powerful, and jamming to “Crazy Train” was a fun, fitting salute to a rock legend. Pure mayhem, in the best way."
