Oasis' Noel and Liam Gallagher have first on-stage conversation in three months
Noel and Liam Gallagher have finally broken the ice and engaged in a short but sweet conversation while on stage as part of their mammoth Oasis reunion tour
Liam and Noel Gallagher have finally shared a joke on stage! The two brothers, who for years went without speaking to one another, have been touring the globe once again as Oasis. But three months after their first biblical reunion show at Cardiff's Principality Stadium, the ice has finally thawed.
Some might say that the long wait was finally over, but the former warring brothers have finally confirmed that they're on speaking terms. Throughout the tour, Liam and his big brother Noel have been staying in separate hotels, as well as travelling separately.
But before taking to the stage, there have been glimpses of them talking to one another, as well as that eye-watering hug they shared with one another. But while performing on the Asian leg of the tour, the topic that broke the ice happened to be chow mein.
As Noel came to the end of his guitar riffs during Supersonic, the 58-year-old, said: "Sorry about that, I was having too much fun then," after making a slight error.
"I told you not to have that chicken chow mein before," Liam joked, as Noel replied: "Do I look like f***ng," Liam hit back: "Noodles man, plays havoc with your f***ing," before he started whistling. The clip hasn't gone unnoticed on social media, with one fan writing: "OMG Liam and Noel having an actual conversation on stage. Is this the 90s guys... and Liam teasing Noel for making a mistake lmao."
A second responded: "The brothers are sooo cute happy to see that we're so back." "On the contrary, I find it a charming scene," said a third. Meanwhile a fourth ecstatic follower penned: "Huh? It looks like they've completely made up already."
But while the conversations have been kept hidden behind closed doors, Noel has spoken publicly about his little brother. Speaking to TalkSport in August, he said: "Liam's smashing it. I'm proud of him. I couldn't do the stadium thing like he does it, it's not in my nature. But I've got to say, I kind of look and I think, 'Good for you mate.' He's been amazing.
"It's great just to be back with Bonehead [Paul Arthurs] and Liam and just be doing it again, I guess when it's all said and done we will sit and reflect on it, but it's great being back in the band with Liam, I forgot how funny he was." But while fans had been waiting 16 years for the reunion which we never expected to happen, Noel was completely blown away by the response.
He explained: "I can't speak for anyone else, but for me personally, I grossly underestimated what I was getting into. It was kind of after about five minutes, I was like, all right, can I just go back to the dressing room and start this again? I've done stadiums before and all that, but I don't mind telling you, my legs had turned to jelly after about halfway through the second song. It’s been an amazing thing. Really is an amazing thing. It's difficult to put into words, actually.
"Every night is the crowd's first night, you know what I mean? So every night's got that kind of same energy to it, but it's been truly amazing. I'm not usually short for words, but I can't really articulate it."
The brothers had a massive fallout after Noel sensationally quit the band in 2009. But their feud had already started years before this, after Liam questioned the paternity of Noel's eldest child, Anais, whom he shares with Meg Mathews. Over the years, the Manchester rock legends had become embroiled in various feuds, often hitting out at one another on social media and in interviews.
Many had hoped that the warring brothers would eventually get back on stage together, with their mother Peggy, also hoping that they would one day put their drama behind them. In 2023, both brothers had said they were open to getting back together.
But last year, almost 15 years to the day the band went their separate ways, it was announced that they would be getting back on stage together. "The guns have fallen silent," the brothers said.
