Heidi Klum's most elaborate Halloween costumes from Jessica Rabbit to a worm

Heidi Klum has become known for her elaborate Halloween costumes, with the model and TV star going all out to ensure she steals the show at her annual party

It is Halloween day which means enthusiasts won't have to wait much longer to witness Heidi Klum's eagerly awaited costume. Even so, the Queen of Halloween is feeling generous, so she's throwing spooky season spectators a bone by teasing her Heidiween 2025 look.

The supermodel didn't reveal all the surprises up her sleeve for her fancy dress outfit (the complete reveal will happen later today), but she did offer a brief glimpse of what viewers can anticipate: "It's going to be be ugly, scary...maybe stinky?" she tells InStyle during an interview discussing her appointment as the new face of L'Oréal Paris' Midnight Cream.

If the past 25 years have been any indication, Klum doesn't attempt any costume unless she's going to execute it properly.

"I hope it works out, fingers and toes crossed. I always try my best," she says. "I never want to let my Halloween fans down. And I know people are watching from everywhere, so I really rack my brain every year to come up with something fabulous, give everyone a good time, and hopefully inspire others to also do something creative."

Here we examine some of Klum's most spectacular costumes through the years:.

2024: ET

Heidi commanded attention at her 23rd annual Halloween bash with her stunning portrayal of ET from Steven Spielberg's 1982 sci-fi masterpiece. The Halloween Queen consistently dominates headlines with her spine-chilling seasonal outfits, crafted alongside special-effects makeup wizard Mike Marino.

Speaking to People magazine, Heidi revealed she chose the beloved character because E. T. has been "part of most of our lives" and she's always been "a big fan."

The former Project Runway presenter's elaborate ensemble featured a luminous fingertip and a motorised headpiece that enabled one of Heidi's crew to remotely operate the moveable mouth and eyes.

The transformation proved so intricate that Heidi chose to wear a nappy to avoid risking toilet breaks, as the outfit proved incredibly challenging to remove and reapply. Speaking to the New York Times newspaper, she explained: "Maybe I never need to use the diaper, but at least that way I don't have to think about it."

Heidi revealed she'd been plotting the costume for nearly a year. She explained: "They have no genitals. I like the whole idea of, like, we're all the same.."

2023: Peacock

Klum enlisted a squad of Cirque du Soleil performers to ensure the peacock outfit she donned for her annual celebration captured maximum spotlight.

The 51 year old balanced atop one of the artists to achieve extraordinarily elongated legs, whilst additional acrobats formed her vibrant green peacock plumage. The model and telly star was centre stage in a bright blue bodysuit, complete with an elaborate headpiece and beak.

2022: Worm

After two years of home-based costumes due to the pandemic, Klum sported a slimy-looking worm costume in 2022, accompanied on the red carpet by her husband Tom Kaulitz, who was dressed as a fisherman with a rod.

The creation, dubbed the Big Wormy Apple, was a playful take on New York's nickname.

Klum was spotted falling and slithering on the floor at the party, with only her eyes visible through the costume.

2019: Alien

A team of experts transformed Klum into a Frankenstein's monster-like creature for her New York event.

Klum allowed fans to witness her 13-hour transformation into a cyber alien, arriving alongside her husband in a massive glass vehicle bearing a bio-hazard warning.

2018: Princess Fiona

Klum turned green in 2018, dressing up as Princess Fiona, the character voiced by Cameron Diaz in the Shrek franchise, with Kaulitz joining her as Shrek.

Her costume donned warts, enlarged nose, bulbous fingertips and all.

2016: Heidi Klum

In a meta-style Halloween costume, Klum dressed up as herself in 2016.

She 'cloned' herself by outfitting five women in identical attire, complete with matching hair, makeup and prosthetics.

2015: Jessica Rabbit

Klum took her Jessica Rabbit look to the extreme in 2015, using body and face prosthetics to recreate the cartoon character's distinctive red appearance.

2013: Old lady

Klum underwent her most complex prosthetics transformation to transform into an elderly woman.

The German-born celebrity was barely recognisable, sporting wrinkled skin, grey hair and dressed as an elderly woman.

2011: Chimpanzee

Klum took inspiration from the classic film franchise Planet Of The Apes, donning a realistic chimpanzee suit for her first costume of the year.

Her second outfit was even more shocking, as she was wheeled onto the red carpet on a hospital bed, clad in a horrifying skinless body suit.
