Big Brother legend Chanelle Hayes quits nurse job for an unexpected career move
Big Brother star Chanelle Hayes has quit her nursing job after a year of being "increasingly frustrated" to pursue an unexpected and risque career move
One iconic Big Brother star has quit her job as nurse after only a year to instead launch a career in an unexpected and risque field. The former reality TV star had to leave nursing behind as she was getting too "frustrated" by how little time she could spend with patients.
Chanelle Hayes was on Big Brother in 2007, when she was 19. She became a glamour model after leaving the show but then studied to be a nurse and started her role properly last year. She has now quit that job to start an OnlyFans career.
A source told the press that Chanelle needed to leave nursing because of the "emotional strain": “Over time she found herself increasingly frustrated by the lack of time she could spend with patients. The emotional strain of not being able to give the level of care she wanted eventually became too much to bear."
They added that while she was a nurse, Chanelle recieved a lot of messages from her fans pushing her towards OnlyFans, a site where users pay for content, which is frequently of a sexual nature.
“Chanelle received countless messages and requests from fans who have followed her since her modelling days. Many encouraged her to join OnlyFans."
Talking to The Sun, they added that the app would let her have "greater control" over her time and wellbeing and said Chanelle was also getting frustrated with the restraints put on her social media.
They said that Chanelle's public presence meant she couldn't post about her training in the same way other nurses did. The source added that the Big Brother star was constantly worried about what would be deemed "acceptable". For Chanelle, joining OnlyFans was a chance to leave nursing "in a way that allows her to be true to herself".
During her stint on Big Brother, Chanelle had multiple altercations with housemates Charley Uchea and argued with Ziggy Lichman. As she also missed her family, Chanelle chose to leave on day 62.
After being on the show, she was voted the second Sexiest Female Housemate Ever, losing to Imogen Thomas from the series before. It was then that she became a glamour model.
But by 2011, she was running a cake making business in Wakefield and by 2024 had changed her career again. Chanelle has also tried her hand at being a musician. She released a song called I Want It, which entered the charts at No. 63.
Chanelle later said she wanted to record a debut album, but she never did. The mother of two had been busy training to become a fully qualified medic.
In a previous interview, Chanelle gave fans an update on her progress as she said: "I'm on placement now for three months at a hospital - I'm really enjoying it."
She explained that she needed to do something worthwhile and use her brain and that when her children started school, she saw it as the perfect opportunity to pursue a degree.
The Mirror has contacted Chanelle's representative for comment.
