Beyoncé’s daughter Blue Ivy looks just like her mum as she wows at grandma's Angel Ball
Teenage Blue Ivy looked the spitting image of her mum on the red carpet for The Angel Ball, where her grandmother Tina Knowles was recognised for her contributions to cancer research
Beyoncé's daughter Blue Ivy Carter proved the showbiz gene runs strong in the family as she dazzled on the red carpet at The Angel Ball in New York City this week.
The 13-year-old daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z turned heads as she attended the star-studded event at Cipriani Wall Street on Monday night to support her grandmother Tina Knowles, who was being honoured for her charity work in cancer research.
Blue Ivy looked like her mother's mini-me in a floor-length pink gown with a matching feathered coat and slingback kitten heels. Her glamorous look drew comparisons to Beyoncé's iconic red-carpet style as she mingled with guests at the sold-out leukaemia and lymphoma cancer benefit.
'I was in a 90s girlband – everything we ate was controlled'
Beyoncé herself later took to Instagram to post a sweet tribute to her mum which read: “Congrats Mom on your philanthropy award at the Angel Ball tonight!”
Tina Knowles, 71, was recognised for her “extraordinary impact” and dedication to cancer research after having survived stage 1 breast cancer herself. She also tragically lost one of her “really good friends” to the disease.
The grandmother-of-six looked elegant in a burgundy velvet gown with a thigh-high slit and matching opera gloves. Her signature blonde hair was styled by Nakia Collins, while make-up artist Armando Kole completed the look with a bold pink lip and fluttery lashes.
Tina was later seen posing on the red carpet with fellow Destiny's Child alum Michelle Williams. The event also attracted a host of big-name guests including Mary J. Blige, Patti LaBelle, LL Cool J, and Lil' Kim.
While Blue Ivy is still in her early teens, she’s already built an impressive résumé. She is the youngest individual ever to win a Grammy Award, and has also collected an MTV VMA, two BET Awards, an NAACP Image Award, and even broken two Guinness World Records.
Following her stage debut during Beyoncé's Renaissance World Tour last year, she returned this summer to perform again as a dancer on her mother’s Cowboy Carter World Tour, which grossed over $400 million.
During a recent appearance on Sherri, Tina revealed that her famous grandkids are being raised to stay grounded despite their superstar heritage.
“You have to say to them, ‘It's more important to be a good person,’” she explained. “You've got to work for what you get. Nobody's going to just hand it to you because you're somebody's daughter.”
Tina also revealed that Beyoncé's younger daughter Rumi, 8, has been begging to join her mum onstage. “She was so excited,” Tina laughed. “By maybe the third or fourth [show], she'd pick out her own outfits at night… and when I asked what she was going to do onstage, she said, ‘Be myself.’”
