Bernie Ecclestone, 89, leads showbiz' older dads after rock legend Mick Jagger

We take a look back at famous older dads of the showbiz world after Bernie Ecclestone announced he is going to be a father again at 89

Bernie Ecclestone has announced he is going to be a father again at the age of 89.

The former Formula 1 chief is due to welcome his child with wife Fabiana Flosi.

The billionaire will welcome his first son this summer despite already having five grandchildren, and he will turn 90 in October.

We take a look at other famous celebrity dads who decided to postpone family life until a little later.

Notting Hill and Love Actually actor Hugh Grant, 59, became a first-time dad at the age of 51 back in 2011.

The Hollywood hunk, who was previously linked to Elizabeth Hurley, welcomed daughter Tabitha with ex partner Tinglan Hong.

He went on to have son Felix Chang with his on-off girlfriend in 2013.

The birth of their two kids shot Tinglan into fame as she mothers the actor's children, but he is now married to TV producer Anna Eberstein.

Business mogul and X Factor producer and creator Simon Cowell is a dad to his young son Eric.

The 60-year-old British star and his girlfriend Lauren Silverman became parents in 2014, when Simon was 54.

The pair welcomed their son, six, on Valentine's Day and he was born in New York.

Eric, who is named after Simon's late father, was born at the city's Lenox Hill Hospital.

Simon took a flight straight there after being told about Lauren's early labour.

However, Simon has since admitted he hasn't ruled out having anymore kids in the future.

Last year he told Lizzie Cundy on This Morning: "If you'd have asked me six years ago I would have probably gone, 'I might have left this a bit too late,' but then you go, 'Oh how you could imagine him not being here.'"

Elton John is a dad to Zachary, nine, and Elijah, seven, who he shares with partner David Furnish.

The famous singer, 73, waited until he was 66 to become a dad for the first time.

They welcomed Zachary in 2011 via a surrogate mother, who helped the pair start a family.

Later in 2013, the pair had Elijah, and Elton revealed he loves family life so much that he "regrets it a little bit not starting sooner".

Sir Rod Stewart, 75, is married to Penny Lancaster and the pair share two children together - Alastair, 14, and Aiden, nine.

The singer has eight children altogether, with six from previous relationships.

The legendary star welcomed his second child Aiden with Penny in 2011, when he was 66.

Rolling Stones front man Mick Jagger, 76, also started fatherhood quite late.

The singer was 56 when he fathered son Lucas after having a fling with Brazilian TV star and model Luciana Gimenez, 50, back in 1999.

Their son is now 20, and is the spitting image of his rock star dad and his seven other children. Do you have a story to sell? Get in touch with us at webcelebs@trinitymirror.com or call us direct 0207 29 33033
