How to not pay $200 for parking at this weekend’s Fort Lauderdale boat show
The world’s largest in-water boat show is back, and so is the traffic.
The 66th annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show began Wednesday and ends Sunday, attracting over 100,000 visitors to Bahia Mar, the newly renovated Las Olas Marina, the Broward County Convention Center and Pier Sixty-Six.
Other major events are happening at the same time this week, including the multi-day Pickleball World Cup at The Fort that ends Sunday, a Kodak Black concert at War Memorial Auditorium on Saturday and the Sunday Jazz Brunch at Esplanade Park on Sunday. Did we mention it’s also Halloween weekend?
Traffic delays and parking fees are already spooky. One sign near the beach offered parking spots for a whopping $200.
But fear not. We’ll help you navigate the chaos that is descending upon Fort Lauderdale this weekend. Here’s your guide to Boat Show traffic and parking.
Busy roads
Traffic is expected to be heaviest on Fort Lauderdale’s barrier island. The city advises drivers commuting throughout the barrier island and along Las Olas Boulevard to anticipate traffic delays and plan accordingly.
Traffic will also be heavy near the boat show locations:
- Bahia Mar Yachting Center -- 801 Seabreeze Blvd.
- Las Olas Marina -- 240 E. Las Olas Circle
- Hall of Fame Marina -- 435 Seabreeze Blvd.
- SuperYacht Village at Pier Sixty-Six South -- 2150 SE 17th St.
- Pier Sixty-Six Marina -- 2301 SE 17th St.
- Broward County Convention Center -- 1950 Eisenhower Blvd.
- 17th Street Yacht Basin at Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina -- 1881 SE 17th St.
Where to park
If you’re attending the Boat Show, event organizers recommend parking at the Broward County Convention Center at 1950 Eisenhower Blvd, where there are over 3,000 parking spots available, for a flat rate of $20 a day. The convention center is the event’s “transportation hub,” with water taxis, shuttles and golf cart services available to transport visitors to and from all seven show locations.
Parking for the North Beach Parking Lot, Las Olas Garage and on-street parking from Vistamar to Las Olas Boulevard will cost a special parking rate of $30 from Oct. 30 to Nov. 2, the city said. The Fort Lauderdale Beach Park parking lot will be completely closed to the public.
