One dead after head-on collision between a Honda and Tesla in Miramar, cops say
A driver of a Honda Civic traveling the wrong way caused a fatal head-on collision with a Tesla in Miramar early Monday morning, police said.
It’s not clear what time the crash took place, but Miami Gardens police were first on the scene at the 7000 block of County Line Road. Officers determined it happened within the city of Miramar’s jurisdiction, Miramar Police Department spokeswoman Janice McIntosh said.
Since the deceased person’s next of kin have not been notified, McIntosh said police are not saying if they were in the 2017 Honda or the 2020 Tesla 3.
But the driver of the Honda caused the crash by heading eastbound in the westbound lanes of the road, McIntosh noted. When police arrived, the driver of one of the cars was dead inside the vehicle, McIntosh said. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue took the driver of the other car to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital with serious injuries, according to police.
The crash caused the closure of County Line Road from the 6000 to 7400 blocks, McIntosh said.
A Broward Sheriff’s Office helicopter crew flew over the scene to see if there were any other victims or vehicles involved in the crash, but did not find any, said McIntosh, who added Miramar’s Traffic Homicide detectives are investigating the crash.
