Rapper Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, is facing a fresh legal battle on top of an already tumultuous personal life.

The Migos artist has been sued by a Los Angeles security guard who claims that Offset assaulted him during an incident at MedMen LAX, a dispensary, earlier this year. The lawsuit, filed by security guard Jim Sanchez, alleges assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress, claiming the encounter left him with significant physical and emotional injuries.

According to Sanchez, the incident occurred in March 2025 when he asked Offset to present identification, a routine requirement at the dispensary. He alleges that Offset responded aggressively, becoming verbally confrontational and physically attacking him by striking him in the face.

The complaint further asserts that members of Offset's entourage also joined in, allegedly assaulting Sanchez during the confrontation. The guard reportedly experienced severe headaches and neck pain, prompting paramedics to transport him to the hospital for treatment.

Offset's representatives, however, have denied these allegations. They claim that Sanchez was the initial aggressor, asserting that he rushed toward the rapper and even spat on him, triggering the altercation.

According to this version, Offset punched the security guard in self-defense, after which Sanchez allegedly used mace against Offset and his entourage. As the legal proceedings move forward, the conflicting accounts will likely become a central focus in the case.

Legal challenges amid a turbulent personal life

This lawsuit comes at a time when Offset's personal life is also under intense public scrutiny. He is in the midst of a highly publicized and contentious divorce from rapper Cardi B, whom he married in 2017.

The couple has experienced multiple separations, with Cardi filing for divorce for the third time in July 2024. Their history has been marked by rumors of infidelity and periods of reconciliation, but the split appears permanent this time.

Adding another layer to the drama, Cardi B recently announced that she is expecting her first child with New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs, due in February 2025. In interviews, she has described feeling "in a good space" and emphasized the support she and Diggs provide each other both personally and professionally.

Earlier this year, Cardi publicly accused Offset of harassment, claiming he made threats against her, attempted to manipulate public perception through bloggers, and even reached out to his new girlfriend with concerning messages.

As Offset navigates these overlapping legal and personal challenges, his public image remains under close scrutiny. The MedMen LAX lawsuit highlights the potential consequences of conflicts that occur in public spaces, particularly when celebrities are involved.

With the case pending, both Offset and Sanchez await the legal system's determination, while fans and observers continue to watch the drama unfold.
