 - Los Angeles Lakers. LeBron James can't hide his joy watching Luka Doncic dominate and nearly hit 50 points

Seven seasons into his NBA career and Luka Doncic is doing things only the legendary Wilt Chamberlain ever did.
After returning from a brief injury absence, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar dropped 44 points in a win over the Memphis Grizzlies - giving him three straight 40-point games to start the regular season. The only other player to ever pull that off?
Wilt. And Wilt again. "He just continues to get where he wants to go," Lakers coach JJ Redick said. "He takes what the defense gives him." This is becoming routine. The man is averaging 45.3 points per game to open the season - video-game numbers even by Luka standards.
Is Doncic already on a Hall of Fame track?
So with the Slovenian shooting guard rewriting record books at 25 years old, it's time for the big question: is Luka Doncic already on a Hall of Fame track? Short answer: Absolutely. Before entering the league, Doni was already one of the greatest teenagers world basketball has ever seen:
EuroLeague MVP, EuroLeague Champion & Final Four MVP. Also ACB MVP & multiple league titles, EuroBasket Champion with Slovenia, plus dozens of awards earned overseas while playing against grown pros
Then came the NBA chapter... and he didn't slow down: NBA Rookie of the Year, five-time All-Star, Five-time First-Team All-NBA, NBA Scoring Champion (2024), Western Conference Finals MVP (2024) and he led the Dallas Mavericks to the NBA Finals (2024).
He's also one of only 28 players in history with 5+ First-Team All-NBA selections - and he did it before turning 26. If Luka walked away today, he would leave the game with: 3rd-highest career scoring avg. in NBA history (behind MJ and Wilt), 2nd-highest in playoff scoring (again, behind MJ). Also, top-15 all-time in assists per game
The search for his first NBA championship
And now, reunited with championship expectations in Los Angeles, and with teammate LeBron James, he's the current favorite for 2025 NBA MVP - the one major award still missing from his résumé. A Hall of Fame lock... with time to chase GOAT status.
Doncic is still years away from his prime, and he's already stacking a career worthy of Springfield. Another championship - or that MVP trophy - and he moves into the "one of the greatest ever" conversation. That would be a major milestone.
What he's doing shouldn't feel normal. But for Luka? It kind of is. So buckle up. Because if the first three 40-point games of this season are any indication... The legend of Doncic is just getting started. And that's some exciting news for the Purple and Gold.
