Structure follows strategy? Well not always straight after it seems..
‘’A process approach to implement strategy & simplify complexity’’
Structure follows strategy is a business principle coined by A.D. Chandler in 1962 that states that the organizational structure of a business (the divisions, departments, teams, processes, technology etc) are designed to achieve a firm's strategy. David Ash (B Eng Electronic & Engineering, Hons Adel, MBA UQ), believes seeing it through a different lens is well worth the effort and rewards.
David presented to Brisbane’s TECR 223's July Advisory Board meeting. His use of case studies was enlightening and opened the group’s eyes to both the flexibility and power of this approach. Well might we say structure follows strategy but not until after we have discussed and understood the processes involved, their impact and, the strategic leverage that can be obtained.
In terms of the key themes that TECR 223 has decided on for 2023, David’s core presentation covered Accountability, Productivity, ‘Stickiness’ with staff/suppliers/customers and lastly, strategic resilience.
How good is that? Well, just ask Tim Bennetton Elliott Burgoyne Tyden Hadwen Mitch Kelly Mark Ross Jonathan Mamaril Claire Roberts Phil Wheeldon
Elliott, you certainly pulled out all stops in getting the new premises all set up and ready in such a short space of time. I don't know how you did it but you did!
