"I really appreciated the format of the ‘Mind the Gap: AI in Publishing’ workshop: short, sharp talks to get everyone aligned" Harry Blom, PhD, Executive Vice President STM, De Gruyter Brill, Inc. During the workshop at #APE 2026 co-organized by Dr. Jess Rohmann, Postdoctoral Researcher at Berlin Institute of Health, QUEST Center for Responsible Research and Dr. Anke Beck, Head of Public Affairs and Advocacy for Europe at Frontiers, what stood out in the discussions was that AI in editorial workflows is about far more than efficiency. Participants consistently highlighted deeper gaps around decision-making, trust, and responsible AI use, alongside the need to safeguard editorial expertise and core scholarly skills. A timely reminder that AI challenges reach to the heart of research and publishing values, and that these conversations must continue to evolve just as quickly as the technology itself. Part B News’ annual Predictions issue features insight from Buttaci, Leardi & Werner’s co-founder John William Leardi on the growing role of artificial intelligence in #healthcare. As #AI continues to reshape clinical workflows and data analysis, John offers a measured perspective on where innovation adds value and where human judgment remains essential. “The promise of AI is not that it’s going to dictate clinical decisions,” John explains. “But it could give the proverbial whisper in a doctor’s ear — ‘have you considered this?’ — and point to something in this enormous data set that they might have overlooked.” John’s commentary reflects how healthcare leaders and counsel are thinking about AI today: not as a replacement for expertise, but as a powerful tool to support better, more informed decision-making when implemented thoughtfully and responsibly. Honored to be quoted on the evolving role of AI in medicine. What an incredible time to be in healthcare. The organizations that will be most successful in the coming years won’t be the ones that blindly adopt AI, but those that thoughtfully and responsibly deploy it to augment — not replace — the clinical expertise of human clinicians. Done right, AI can improve outcomes, increase efficiency, lower costs, and deliver a meaningfully better patient experience. Utopian? Maybe. But that’s the true promise of AI in a clinical setting, and it’s one worth getting right. Grateful to be part of the conversation. #Healthcare #AIinHealthcare #HealthTech #ClinicalInnovation #ResponsibleAI

Your AI is only as good as what it knows. In R&D-intensive industries, the line between a breakthrough insight and a confident hallucination often comes down to one thing: the quality of the source material feeding your models. Most enterprise AI is built on web-scraped content, outdated databases, or generic training sets. But when the stakes are high in drug discovery, clinical research, and regulatory compliance, "close enough" isn't good enough. I'm leading a webinar on why peer-reviewed, authoritative research isn't just a nice-to-have for AI systems. It's the foundation for accuracy, trust, and real-world results. What we'll cover: - Why source quality is the most underrated factor in AI performance - How trusted scientific content reduces hallucinations and improves decision-making - What research intelligence looks like when AI and authoritative data work together As an AI Product Director at Wiley, I work with enterprise customers building AI systems that depend on getting this right. 🔍 AI as a Productivity Partner in Scientific Publishing We are glad to see that some of our authors and reviewers are thoughtfully using AI tools to improve the efficiency, clarity, and consistency of their research and peer-review workflows. From refining scientific language and improving structure, to supporting data interpretation and literature navigation, AI, when used responsibly and transparently, can be a valuable assistant that helps researchers focus more on scientific rigor and innovation. At Quantitative NMR Journal, we encourage: ✅ Ethical and transparent use of AI tools ✅ Human-led scientific judgment and accountability ✅ AI as a support for quality, not a substitute for expertise We believe that responsible adoption of AI will contribute to a more efficient, rigorous, and inclusive scientific publishing ecosystem—especially in highly technical fields such as quantitative NMR. We look forward to continued dialogue with our community on best practices and evolving standards. 📘 How are you using AI tools in your research or review process? #QuantitativeNMR #ScientificPublishing #PeerReview #ResponsibleAI #ResearchIntegrity #AIinScience #OpenScience #AcademicPublishing

AI is evolving quickly, and patience, collaboration, and experimentation still matter...... In this video, Claudio Garutti, PhD of Google reflects on how far AI has progressed and what that means for clinical data management. As organisations experiment with rapidly evolving AI tech stacks, Claudio highlights the uncertainty many teams face, the importance of sharing knowledge, and the opportunity to focus AI where it can deliver real operational efficiency in clinical trials. While AI may not change the time it takes to test treatments in people, it has the potential to significantly improve the accuracy and cost of the work that surrounds clinical trials. These are exactly the kinds of conversations that continue at the ACDM Symposium on Artificial Intelligence in Clinical Trials. Beyond the Hype: Thinking Critically about AI in Healthcare. First webinar: Inside the Miracle Cure. First of a series of webinars held by Jessica Rose Morley, PhD on 29th January 2026. Jessica Morley is currently an Associate Research Scientist at the Yale Digital Ethics Center. She is considered a leading AI expert and her work focuses on making sure that data and AI serve society, particularly within healthcare. Her work in the USA looks at development of theory, frameworks, and technical tools to support how digital technologies are developed, throughout their lifecycle. What key things did we learn form the webinar? 1. AI is not new, magic or intelligent 2. Artificial Intelligence is an umbrella term for many different types of capabilities (symbolic, predictive, analytical, decision making and generative) 3. Capabilities of AI could unlock opportunities in healthcare for patients and operational efficiency. 4. There is a lot of rhetoric in public policy such as the promise of transforming healthcare. 5. Lots of discussion on data, algorithm and models but less on implementation, actions and outcomes. 6. AI has potential and its use should be based around system design looking at how healthcare is provided and the role AI could play. The above are useful advice for fellow colleagues at the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme, and at The Alan Turing Institute including BridgeAI-covering agriculture and food processing, construction, creative and transport, logistics and warehousing industries - Alexandra Araujo Alvarez J. Sofia Pires and Dominica D'Arcangelo. #digitalhealth #AI #firstethicalAI

🤖🩺 📈 Artificial intelligence is reshaping healthcare, and the pace is only accelerating. One of the most transformative tools of the past year, and looking ahead this year, is AI. WCA recently convened leading experts to examine AI’s growing impact on healthcare, a key economic driver in Westchester. The takeaway: AI is already improving diagnostics, reducing administrative burden, and unlocking deeper insights. At the same time, it raises critical questions around data privacy, accuracy, bias, and ethical use. The consensus among leaders was clear: AI should enhance, not replace, human judgment, supported by strong governance, patient consent, and responsible implementation. #WestchesterCountyAssociation
