Dylan Verheul’s Post

🌍 This week, Observation.org is participating in the 2025 GBIF ECA Regional Meeting — bringing together nodes from across Europe and Central Asia to strengthen collaboration and exchange ideas on biodiversity data infrastructure and innovation. We’re glad to be in #Waterford, Ireland, where the National Biodiversity Data Centre is hosting the event. It’s been a real pleasure to connect with people from so many different countries and backgrounds to talk about biodiversity and technology. There’s a lot of energy around improving how we collect, validate, and share data for both citizen science and professional monitoring. On Tuesday, we enjoyed a fantastic field trip through the Waterford region — many participants used #ObsIdentify and #Observation to log their sightings in real time. Wednesday and Thursday are packed with updates and workshops from national nodes. Observation.org is highlighting the importance of sustainable software — building reusable tools that support biodiversity efforts across borders and over time. And of course, we’ve also been enjoying the incredible local musicians of Waterford — the perfect way to recharge for another inspiring day of collaboration. 🎶 #Biodiversity #CitizenScience #Monitoring #TogetherWeDiscoverMore GBIF: The Global Biodiversity Information Facility Naturalis Biodiversity Center
