Klemen T. shared thisHow Chopper Learned to Speak Fluent Query-String—and Why That Journey Spawned Fresh Ports of “qs” for Dart and Python Query strings are deceptively simple until you need to squeeze real-world filters into them. Arrays collapse into comma soup, nested objects flatten into unreadable keys, every back-end expects a different dialect. In Node, the pain is mostly hidden; turn on express.urlencoded({ extended: true }) and the venerable qs library quietly takes over, parsing and serialising even the hairiest URLs. Strapi, among others, leans on the same trick for its powerful REST filters. Flutter wasn’t so lucky. Chopper, the HTTP generator I help maintain, builds on Dart’s lightweight http package. Great for speed, terrible for deep query structures. Retrofit, Chopper's main competitor, rides on Dio, which already offers a helpful ListFormat; that leaves Chopper users hand-crafting Uris when they bump into filter[tags][]=flutter&filter[tags][]=dart. Last April a GitHub issue arrived: “Encoding nested params in Flutter is basically impossible.” I felt the frustration. I’d written the same boilerplate in my own apps, so I reached for a fix. Surely someone had ported qs to Dart? Nope. Java had only half-finished parsers, and Python was no better. Even the original library is still plain ES5; a TypeScript rewrite would probaly break 70 million weekly downloads of downstream code. So I ported it. Porting untyped JavaScript into a statically-typed language isn’t glamorous, but qs ships with a metric ton of unit tests. Those tests became the contract. GitHub Copilot handled most of the mechanical rewrite; CodeRabbit’s AI reviews nagged me when I drifted from spec. Every oddball case made the trip: • 5 list styles (indices, brackets, repeat, comma, plain) • Depth and parameter-count guards to stop “billion-laughs” URLs • utf8=✓ charset sentinel support for legacy APIs • Full round-trip fidelity on tricky UTF-16 combinations Halfway through, one test surfaced a subtle bug in upstream qs. The fix landed as PR #506, nice bonus. The result, qs_dart, shipped with Chopper v7.4. Hand us a nested Map<String, dynamic>, we’ll return a correctly encoded String (and vice-versa), no matter how deep it goes. Suddenly the feature gap with Retrofit/Dio is gone. Momentum carried me forward. A holiday experiment grew into qs-codec for Python: fully type-annotated, 98 percent test-covered, a drop-in helper for requests, FastAPI, or Django whenever you’re tired of &.encode() loops. Zaradi tega smo tudi mi počasni z uvedbo, ker je vedno več akcije kot dokumentacije. Ampak NIS2 in ISO27001 nam ne uideta. En vikend z Claude Code imamo sedaj HF Cert. Celotni sistem za sledenje vsem potrebnim elementom, vnose in prevzeme iz potrebnih zbirk. In najbolj pomembno AI generiranje dokumentacije. Ni skrbi, da bi bila fake, ker mora biti pregledana in izhaja iz prave dokumentacije, AI poskrbi za to, da ne pozabimo kaj ali pa smo se kje zmotili. Notri so zaenkrat zajete kontrole za 9001, NIS2, 27001, 14001 in 22301 Najbolj pomembno so povezane, generirajo se iz teh podatkov in upam, da nas bodo popeljale končno do verfikacije na SIQ in posledično tudi verifikacije tega sistema.

Klemen T. reacted on thisKlemen T. reacted on thisOne of the best things I did in 2025 was deliberately choosing less. Less noise. Less input. Less distraction. For 11 days in Rishikesh, India, I joined a silent meditation retreat at an ashram in the Himalayan jungle. 7 of those days were spent in complete silence — no phones, no reading, no mirrors, no eye contact. As someone navigating some big decisions in my career and personal life, I felt called to step away from the constant stream of information and deadlines to gain clarity on what really mattered. Here's what surprised me most: 1. Pranayama (breathwork) was transformative — techniques like Kapalbhati and Bhastrika left me feeling more energised than any coffee ever has 2. With reduced stimuli, I became hyperaware of my thought patterns and subconscious nature — hugely valuable for big decisions 3. I started sleeping less (5-6 hours vs 7-8) but woke up MORE refreshed 4. A vegetarian sattvic diet kept me energised and I actually gained weight — completely changed my perspective on nutrition 5. The smallest adjustments in posture during meditation made the biggest difference The practices I learned have become daily tools for maintaining mental clarity as I navigate complex decisions in my work. If you've ever felt the pull toward a silent retreat, I can't recommend it enough. Sometimes you need to completely unplug to truly see what's next.
