That’s why we invested $42 million across both UPMC Passavant and UPMC Passavant–Cranberry: because critical specialty services belong in Pittsburgh’s northern suburbs. The campus transformation in Cranberry includes a larger footprint for the UPMC Heart and Vascular Clinic and a new CT scanner for 3D imaging and improved diagnostics. We're expanding behavioral health services and ensuring more pediatric telehealth availability through UPMC Children’s. Patients now have greater access to advanced surgical care in gynecologic oncology, orthopaedics, urology, and general surgery, right in their own community. Earlier this month, our staff came together to celebrate this incredible milestone. We’re already seeing the real impact in Cranberry, including the recent lifesaving response to a staff member’s cardiac emergency and the rapid treatment of a 2-year-old child with a severe leg injury. UPMC Passavant is ranked No. 20 in Pennsylvania and No. 3 in the Pittsburgh metro area by U.S. News & World Report. This latest transformation ensures it continues to be a lifeline, now with even greater reach.

The UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care joint venture marks a major step forward in improving access to high-quality health care across Pennsylvania and West Virginia. With 81 new centers, UPMC is making it easier for patients to receive world-class care in their own communities, with 33 of these centers in the Pittsburgh area alone, including one in right in Pittsburgh’s Shadyside neighborhood. These urgent care locations will bring more ambulatory services such as primary care, women’s health, orthopedics, and radiology closer to the communities that need them most, including more rural areas of Pennsylvania such as Clarion, Williamsport, Wilkes-Barre and York. The clinics provide care for non-life-threatening acute conditions including flu, fever, earaches, insect bites as well as minor injuries like sprains, simple fractures and cuts requiring stitches. X-rays and vaccines will also be available. I look forward to seeing how we continue to extend our clinical excellence beyond the hospital. UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh is expanding services in the Northwest region as we see a growing demand for pediatric care and want to keep that care close to home. Just this week, UPMC Children’s opened a second pediatric specialty care center in Erie, PA. UPMC Children’s has a large presence in Erie, and this new center will add to the strong complement of existing pediatric services, including inpatient care at UPMC Hamot, as well as outpatient care offered through UPMC Children’s Express Care, pediatric emergency care services and UPMC Children’s Community Pediatrics offices throughout the region. We look forward to continuing to expand our nationally ranked services throughout our communities, while focusing on delivering an exceptional experience for our children and families. We are thrilled to share that the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing approved the opening of the UPMC Mercy School of Nursing at UPMC Altoona.   A strong pipeline of new nurses is vital for Altoona’s future, particularly as many local nurses in the area are near retirement in the next decade. This 16-month nursing diploma program supports that pipeline, training the region’s next generation of registered nurses. Meanwhile, UPMC Altoona will continue its long partnerships with other academic nursing institutions in the region. The newest location for the UPMC Mercy School of Nursing will enroll its first class in fall 2026, during which students will complete 900 hours of clinical rotations at UPMC Altoona while enrolled.   I am especially proud that we can offer our Altoona neighbors access to a respected, affordable nursing program close to home. https://lnkd.in/eW6mQmgb

A #nursinghome in Luzerne County is set to transition to a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center. Why? Because, as currently constructed, the operating environment for a #longtermcare facility is unsustainable in Pennsylvania. Inadequate #medicaid reimbursement. #Staffing shortages, which create a reliance on costly contract agency staff. Burdensome regulations that take time and funding away from the resident bedside. AccendoWave - A Pain #Data Company Pittsburgh-based UPMC’s venture capital arm, UPMC Enterprises, has launched its second company in partnership with venture-builder Redesign Health. The new company, Glimmer Health, supports primary care physicians in delivering comprehensive chronic #pain management, according to a May 12 news release. It offers an integrated platform modeled after UPMC’s network of multimodal pain management clinics, which develop treatment plans combining physical therapy, medications, mental health support and other individualized strategies. https://lnkd.in/gWpZDYAb
