Erin Keating liked thisErin Keating liked thisHalf of the top 10 most popular new vehicles in August 2026 were made by Chinese carmakers, and 32% of new cars delivered had a Chinese brand's badge on it. This is a staggering statistic. One that would have been scarcely believable 5 years ago, and laughable a decade ago. Nowhere in the western world is as dominated by Chinese brands as Australia, a market with few trade barriers to speak of. ➡️ Seven of the top 15 brands were Chinese. BYD Australia & New Zealand was 2nd. GWM Australia 7th. MG Motor Australia, Geely Auto Australia and Chery Australia were spots 9-11. Omoda Jaecoo Australia 14th and ZEEKR Australia 15th. ➡️ The top 10 fastest-growing brands in terms of volume (Aug-26 vs. Aug-25) were all Chinese OEMs except one, that one being Tesla which builds its cars in Shanghai. ➡️ There are 12 Chinese OEMs selling 22 brand names in market (Aion, BYD, Chery, Deepal, Denza, Farizon, Forthing, Foton, GAC, Geely, GWM, Haval, JAC, Jaecoo, LDV, Leapmotor, MG, Omoda, Ora, Tank, Xpeng and Zeekr). ➡️ Others confirmed for launch before end of 2027 are Avatr, BAW, Changan, Firefly, Freelander, Hongqi, iCaur, JMC, Lepas, Jetour, Wey and Xiaomi. That makes 34 brands! ➡️ Some 43,891 vehicles sold last month and delivered were made in China either by a Chinese or non-Chinese brand name such as Tesla and Kia. Join a friend of mine and I as we read a book and then sit down for about an hour long conversation deepening our understanding of the book and digging into what the book did for us emotionally, intellectually, mentally, etc. Throughout the discussion, invariably we arrive at several questions we would love to ask the author. The name Three Way harkens back to the good old days when you would double click your phone…
The podcast Three Way was created for conversationalists and book lovers alike. Join a friend of mine and I as we read a book and then sit down for about an hour long conversation deepening our understanding of the book and digging into what the book did for us emotionally, intellectually, mentally, etc. Throughout the discussion, invariably we arrive at several questions we would love to ask the author. The name Three Way harkens back to the good old days when you would double click your phone to bring in a third party to your conversation. Therefore, at the end of the podcast my hope is that we can bring in the author for a brief time as a third party to ask about the items that came up for us throughout the conversation.
Ultimately my hope with this podcast is to inspire more readers and to inspire more dialogue between people by showing that even by reading the same book two people can come with different perspectives and still enjoy a deep and civil conversation. Open a book, open your mind, open your heart. -
