Specialist demand is holding strong in the .NET market. Even with a lot of movement across tech this year, one thing hasn’t changed. Companies still need engineers with depth. Cloud experience. Microservices exposure. Strong fundamentals in .NET. The skills that keep products running and help teams move forward. I’m seeing more roles come through where clients want people who understand the real detail behind these technologies. Not someone who can tick every box on a job ad, but someone who can talk through what they’ve delivered and the impact it had. For candidates, this means you don’t need to reinvent yourself or chase every new trend. You just need to be clear on the experience you already have and how it translates into value for a team. Depth still matters. And the engineers who can show it are the ones the market is moving quickly for.

What gets you hired is showing that you can turn features into outcomes. Example: Q: “Why would you use Frozen Collections in .NET 8?” ❌ Average answer: “They make collections immutable and faster to read.” ✅ Exceptional answer: “They create immutable, memory-efficient collections optimized for lookups. In a high-traffic API, that means fewer allocations, less GC pressure, and lower latency—directly reducing infrastructure cost while keeping responses snappy under heavy load.” Do you see the difference? 👉 One is a fact. 👉 The other is a business case in technical language. Mentoring on the Mainframe Your junior or midlevel systems programmer knows there is a problem. They are “pretty sure” they know what they need to do, but they want to make sure they don’t make a mistake. They spend several hours looking through Redbooks.   Look through system documentation trying to determine if the fix they have in mind is the correct one. Is this PTF going to impact production? They are talking to IBM support to verify that what they are about to implement won’t impact production. But they still have doubts. Your sys progs wish that they could talk with someone that can look at the problem they are facing and let them know if they are doing the right thing. Let them know they won’t cause a Sev1. If your systems programmers are struggling a bit and need a little support, reach out to me. When a dev leads with “clean architecture,” I pause. If they push for the perfect setup before writing a single feature, I ask why? It’s not that quality doesn’t matter. It’s that context does. Perfect code doesn’t help if no one needs what you built.

I used to be an AEM engineer since CQ 5.4 And honestly, most of the job wasn’t building features. It was fighting caching. Dispatcher rules, cache invalidation, environments out of sync, pages fast but wrong, or correct but slow. Replication at scale and custom Oak indices. We kept adding layers to fix it. CDN. Edge cache. Application cache. Each layer helped. And made the system more fragile. At some point I realized: We’re not solving the problem. We’re working around a model that shouldn’t exist in the first place. That realization led me to build a Continuous Materialization Platform. Here is the story behind it:
