  • Self-hosting at scale is the most expensive path for companies that want to grow. What seems like a cost-saving measure can actually burden your most valuable resource—your developers’ time—with endless server maintenance and patching. In a self-hosting model, essential features can become unpredictable budget line items. In our latest white paper, “Reclaiming the Roadmap: How Self-Hosting Steals Developer Time", we break down the costs of self-hosting, and explore strategies to eliminate this hidden cost: https://lnkd.in/gN_7Sqj9

As marketers, we are at a pivotal inflection point for how digital marketing works. AI-powered engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini are redefining how people discover content which means we have to navigate both the traditional buyer journey, as well the the new AI-powered buyer journey. Search as we know it is evolving. Both SEO and this new frontier—Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)—are reshaping how brands, creators, and websites show up in an AI-driven world. At WP Engine, we’re leaning into what’s next—experimenting, learning, and preparing for a web shaped by GEO. I recently sat down with HostingAdvice.com to talk about what this means for marketers, content teams, and website owners. We are all learning as we go, so I'd love to know how is your team adapting to this shift? Are you designing for both humans and agents? https://lnkd.in/eSakTvKi

For more than two decades, websites were built around one goal: ranking higher on Google. But with Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) entering the scene, discovery now depends on how AI systems interpret your site. WP Engine’s CMO, Darcy Kurtz, calls this a “hybrid era” where SEO and GEO live side by side. But it won’t last forever. Here’s what that means for hosts: - Sites must be structured for AI understanding — metadata, schema, and APIs now drive visibility. - Metrics like clicks and traffic are giving way to AI impressions and agentic engagement. - GEO-readiness will soon be the new differentiator, not just speed and uptime. “AI-powered engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini are reshaping what discoverability really means,” Kurtz told HostingAdvice. The website is still your anchor — but its purpose is shifting from destination to data source. Read our full interview with Darcy Kurtz below 👇 #WebHosting #GEO #SEO

When it comes to your website, cutting costs in the wrong places can quietly drain resources and limit growth. In this webinar, James Hall (WP Engine) and Ellis LaMay (Americaneagle.com) break down how organizations can lower their Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) without sacrificing performance, security, or scalability. Watch the full webinar recording to learn how modern, managed platforms can simplify your tech stack and free your team to focus on innovation and long-term business growth. https://lnkd.in/gZQWyNVj

  • “How do you translate the vibrant soul of Buenos Aires into a highly interactive, digital experience?” That simple challenge, posed by Gelato La Boca, required a website that could introduce an authentic Argentinian-style gelato brand into the fierce Dallas food market. The experts at The Matchbox Studio were inspired by the colorful La Boca neighborhood to experiment with subtle motion, 3D elements, and interactive design. They built a scalable, component-based design system on WP Engine’s platform that balances this high interactivity with efficient performance. We’re proud that this site is powered by WP Engine.
