That's the session we've proposed for SXSW EDU 2027, and it's now open for community voting! Jessamy Almquist (Learning Commons), Katie Boody Adorno (Leanlab Education), Peter Gault (Quill.org), and Joy Osborne (Student Achievement Partners) will challenge vendor claims, define what trustworthy evidence looks like, and put an open evaluator to the test in a live demo. Today we’re announcing that Peter Norvig has joined the Quill.org board of directors! Peter has been an AI advisor to Quill since 2019, connecting with us when we were first building out our initial AI models. At Google, Peter served as a Director of Research, and he was one of the leaders that built Google’s world-changing AI. Peter now serves as a Fellow at Stanford's Human-Centered AI Institute where his classes instruct the next-generation of AI leaders. For Quill, Peter’s advice for the years has helped shaped our AI Strategy as we scaled from preliminary fine-tuned BERT models (back in 2018-2019!) to leveraging the latest Gemini models today. Quill.org expects AI to continue to rapidly evolve over the coming years, and our nonprofit is dedicated to using this powerful technology to help millions of young people become stronger readers, writers, and critical thinkers. Quill is thrilled to be a Big Ideas 2026 grantee! 🎉 Through Cambiar Education's Thrive's Big Ideas Challenge, 19 organizations received funding to put the power of data into the hands of students and families, and we're proud to be one of them.
