NCAA staff member Katy Yurk knows the student-athlete experience better than most. 🏐 As associate director of Division I governance and member services, Katy spends her days working in the academics and eligibility space, but for the last four years, she's also had a front-row seat to Division III men's volleyball as the proud mom of Wittenberg student-athlete Michael Yurk. Katy attended every game of Michael's senior season, which ended with a memorable run to the semifinal round of the 2026 Division III Men's Volleyball Championship in Springfield, Massachusetts. Historic days don't happen by accident. They happen because of people. Today, the NCAA announced that the Division I Men's and Women's Basketball Championships will expand from 68 to 76 teams beginning in 2027, one of the most significant moments in the history of March Madness. Behind that announcement is a team of leaders who spent well over a year analyzing, planning, and championing what's right for student-athletes and the game. A huge thank you to Dan Gavitt, SVP of Basketball, and Lynn Holzman, VP for Women's Basketball, whose leadership and vision helped bring this moment to life, along with JoAn Scott and the entire basketball staff who poured their expertise into every detail and the entire basketball staff who poured their expertise into every detail. More teams. More opportunities. All because of the people who care deeply about doing this the right way. Proud of our team today. #MarchMadness #NCAABasketball
