Farm Africa helps farmers in eastern Africa grow more, sell more and sell for more, while protecting the environment.
About us
Farm Africa helps African farmers grow themselves out of poverty. Our local staff provide the tools and expertise to enable smallholders in eastern Africa to increase their harvests, whether they farm crops, livestock, fish or the forest. We train farmers to be more commercial, adding value to harvest surpluses by milling, drying, or turning their produce into products that fetch a higher price. Their situations may vary, but all of the farmers we work with are vulnerable to increasing economic and environmental challenges. With our help, they become more resilient to these challenges. They are able to grow more food to feed their families and bring in a reliable income. With our help, rural families are building a more prosperous life that allows them to take charge of their futures, for good. Farm Africa has over 170 staff operating across the east African countries of Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Interested in working for us? Keep an eye on the jobs page of our website for all UK-based opportunities: www.farmafrica.org/jobs Posts in our African offices are recruited in-country and advertised in national papers and on ReliefWeb: www.reliefweb.int

"We use the goats' milk to feed our young children." Owning goats means Sylvia from Karamoja in Uganda has been able to improve her family's nutrition. After growing her herd, she was also able to sell some of the goats to afford school fees for her children. "I have been able to send them to boarding school, where they have learnt to read. They couldn’t read before. I didn’t go to school myself. I want my kids to study.” Sylvia is one of thousands of women who received goats and training in how to rear them from Farm Africa's Livestock for Livelihoods project, funded by UK aid from the UK government. No, this is not a photo from the Traitors round table. This is a reunion of the #GROWforGood team. One year ago, this intrepid team was in rural Kenya, taking on challenges worthy of the Traitors: mountain biking along dusty roads, making compost on female farmers’ farms and camping alongside some terrifying creepy crawlies. All to raise funds and awareness for Farm Africa. There were some #TeamGROW members missing as we gathered round the table last night, we can only hope they haven’t been murdered or banished… #farmafrica #Traitors #CelebrityTraitors

Proud to work with Embassy of Sweden in Addis Abeba on this milestone achievement.
#storiesofchange From the heart of Gambella, the Anywaa people have long lived in harmony with nature. Today, their commitment to preserving this unique bio-cultural heritage has gained global recognition: UNESCO has designated the Anywaa Forest as Ethiopia’s 6th Biosphere Reserve. Local communities, once facing pressures from deforestation and resource depletion, are now champions of sustainable development. Through the Nature-Based Solutions for Sustainable and Inclusive Development (NSSID) program, led by Farm Africa and funded by Sweden, communities have embraced practices that protect biodiversity while improving livelihoods. Anywaa Biosphere Reserve not only safeguards critical ecosystems but also strengthens cultural identity and cross-border ecological corridors linking Ethiopia and South Sudan. #storiesofchangeethiopia #storiesofchangesweden #teamsweden 📸 MELCA-Ethiopia UNESCO
