  • Enlargement is a strategic investment in Europe’s stability, security, and prosperity.    It strengthens the Single Market, anchors democracy and the rule of law, and creates new opportunities on both sides.    Citizens and businesses benefit from closer economic links, transport and energy connectivity, and ongoing integration steps such as free roaming, SEPA, and customs cooperation.    The process is strict but fair: it is merit-based, with lasting reforms driving progress.    A bigger EU means stronger Europe – for everyone! 💪

  • 🤝75 years of the European Convention on Human Rights Signed in the aftermath of war, this Convention became a cornerstone of peace in Europe, setting out the fundamental rights which we still rely on today. For 75 years, it has protected millions of Europeans and supported our shared values. Human rights. Justice. Rule of law. For everyone. Always.

    • Text on a light, textured background reads: "Human rights aren't optional. They're universal." Below, in smaller blue text: "EUROPEAN CONVENTION ON HUMAN RIGHTS 75 YEARS (1950 - 2025)" next to a small image of the EU flag.
    • A list of fundamental human rights on a light, textured background. The text reads: "Right to life. Prohibition of torture. Prohibition of slavery and forced labour. Right to liberty and security. Right to a fair trial. No punishment without law. Right to respect for private and family life. Freedom of thought, conscience and religion. Freedom of expression. Freedom of assembly and association. Right to marry. Right to an effective remedy. Prohibition of discrimination. Prohibition of abuse of rights." Below, in smaller blue text: "EUROPEAN CONVENTION ON HUMAN RIGHTS 75 YEARS (1950 - 2025)" next to a small image of the EU flag.
  • 🟢 Steady progress towards safer roads in Europe    In 2024, 19,940 people lost their lives in road accidents across the EU. Every life saved matters. And while we are not yet where we want to be, a 2% drop in road deaths from 2023-2024 shows that Europe is moving in the right direction: Towards our Vision Zero goal of halving road deaths and serious injuries by 2030 and getting close to zero by 2050. At 45 deaths per million inhabitants, EU roads still remain among the safest in the world. Progress continues across most EU countries, with significant improvements in Lithuania, Latvia and Austria. We will continue working together to make Europe’s roads safer for everyone. Because no one should lose their life on the way to school, work or home. • Bar chart titled “Changes in road deaths from 2019 to 2024.” Most EU countries show decreases in road deaths, represented by green bars. The largest reductions are in Poland (–35%), Estonia (–33%), and Slovenia (–33%). A few countries show increases, highlighted in red: Ukraine (+33%), Ireland (+22%), and Spain (+2%). The European Commission logo appears in the bottom right corner.
  • ⚡We are making energy more affordable to relieve our citizens and businesses – and we are doing it now. That’s why we are implementing seven specific actions together with EU countries to lower energy prices immediately: ️ 🔸 Provide support to energy-intensive industries through price relief and backing for decarbonisation  🔹 Use EU Cohesion Funds for energy investments  🔸 Explore financial opportunities for the energy sector with national banks and the European Investment Bank   🔹 Reform national permitting systems to accelerate renewables, storage, and grids  🔸 Prioritise cross-border interconnections and domestic grid development 🔹 Diversify gas supplies from multiple trusted partners  🔸 Lower energy taxes

  • Each attack on a journalist is an attack on democracy itself.    Today marks the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists. These crimes strike at the heart of democracy, threatening the human rights and fundamental freedoms of all citizens.     When those who silence journalists walk free, fear spreads — and the truth disappears.    We stand with journalists — from conflict zones to local newsrooms — who risk their lives to ensure that the truth can be told freely, everywhere. 📝    Let the truth be told. Let the press be free.

    • White background with bold black and blue text reading: “No freedom without press freedom.” The word “PRESS” is highlighted in blue. In the bottom right corner, there is a small European Union flag with yellow stars on a blue field.
  • Ready, set, GROW 🥸    Movember starts today!    This month is all about raising awareness of men’s health, especially prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention. ❤️🩹    Early detection saves lives! In the EU, we’re taking action:  🎗️ Through our Beating Cancer Plan, improving access to cancer prevention, early detection, treatment, and care  🎗️ With our EU-funded PRAISE-U project, working to ensure early detection and diagnosis of prostate cancer  💙 With our comprehensive approach to mental health, supporting wellbeing across all different areas of life.    Will you be growing a moustache this Movember?

    • A collection of twelve illustrated moustaches in various shapes and colors arranged in a grid on a white background. Below them, the word ‘Movember’ and a small outline of the European Union flag appear, symbolizing men’s health awareness.
  • Watch out for those ‘urgent’ messages! ⚠️    Scammers are getting creative, and also emotional. They might pretend to be loved ones in trouble, asking you to send money urgently.    This type of social engineering trick is designed to make you panic and act before thinking.    Here are some warning signs to look out for: 🚩 Messages claiming an emergency (accident, travel trouble, etc.)  🚩 Requests for quick money transfers or gift cards  🚩 Strange phone numbers or new accounts  🚩 Links to “secure” payment sites    Phishing is the theme of this year’s European Cybersecurity Month. The aim is to raise awareness and provide tools and information to help people stay safe online. More info: https://lnkd.in/dU7374Z   #CyberSecMonth

    • A smartphone screen shows a suspicious message from a random number labeled “Definitely not my son.” The message says: “Hi mom, it’s me. I’ve been in a car accident. Can you please send me €150 so I can get home? You can wire funds to me here: www.supersafesite.com.”
The image includes red arrows pointing to warning signs: “Random number,” “No previous messages,” “Direct money claim,” “Suspicious link,” and “Unusual hour.” The image is part of a cybersecurity awareness campaign, marked with the European Commission logo and the hashtag #CYBERSECMONTH.
  • Did you know Halloween’s spooky fun is truly Made in Europe? 🎃     From the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain to today’s glowing pumpkins and costumes, this tradition carries centuries of magic.    Over 2,000 years ago, the Celts marked the end of harvest and the start of winter, believing spirits could cross into our world. To keep them away, they lit bonfires, wore costumes, and offered food. These spooky traditions evolved into the Halloween we know today.    Whether you’re carving pumpkins or trick or treating, you’re celebrating beautiful, deep-rooted European heritage.     Happy Halloween! 👻🍂🕯️

    • Hand-drawn illustration of a carved pumpkin with star-shaped eyes and a smile made of small stars, sitting on a tree stump surrounded by mushrooms. The pumpkin resembles the EU flag, and above it, the text reads "Halloween, made in Europe" in brown letters. A small EU flag is in the top left corner.
