Building a 3D renderer inside Figma became an exploration of form, light, materials, interaction, and the space between 3D and the design canvas. Aleksei Kipin takes us through the making of Depth, from the first experiments to the interactive website built alongside it. About us
Codrops is a publication and creative platform for people shaping the future of the web. Since 2009, we've explored the intersection of design, technology, and creativity through in-depth articles, tutorials, experiments, case studies, inspiration, and insights from the people building the web. What began as a space for experimentation has grown into a global destination for designers, developers, creative technologists, and digital makers, reaching more than 2 million unique visitors each year. Today, Codrops covers everything from creative coding, motion and interaction design to 3D, WebGL, AI, frontend development, web design, and the craft behind ambitious digital experiences. We go beyond the finished work to explore the ideas, processes, tools, and techniques that make it possible. Alongside our editorial work, Codrops showcases exceptional digital work through our Creative Hub and Webzibition, bringing together original experiments and standout experiences from across the creative web. We're passionate about the people and technologies pushing the medium forward, from independent makers and emerging talent to leading studios, agencies, and the tools they use. Over the years, we've partnered with trusted names across the creative and technology industries, including Webflow, GSAP, Readymag, Shopify, Rive, Mailchimp, and many more. We're always interested in working with people and brands that share our curiosity and want to contribute something meaningful to the creative web. Codrops is a place to learn, discover, experiment, and be inspired by what's possible on the web and a platform for the people making it happen.

And that’s a wrap on the very first Three.js Conference! 🇫🇷💙 What an incredible two days. So many amazing talks, experiments, ideas, people and moments all packed into one very special gathering of the Three.js community. ✨ Huge thank you to David Ronai for making it happen, and to all the incredible speakers who shared their work and ideas with us. And a massive ❤️ to our amazing crew on the ground: Houmahani Kane, Adel Sanaa and Rafael Teixeira. They captured so much of what made these two days special and brought the whole experience back to everyone following along from afar. Now let’s see if they manage to sneak out some boat party impressions… 🚢😂 See the complete recap of the most special moments as we followed them through Paris: https://lnkd.in/e6Gc2yMz #threejs #threejsconf

And that’s a wrap on the talks at the very first Three.js Conference! 💙🇫🇷 Antoine Menard from Merci-Michel showed us how they build worlds around an experience, from Red Bull and Microsoft 365 to Hermès. Then Bruno Simon closed things out by asking what actually makes a web experience memorable: animation, performance, one original idea, fast iteration, play, sound and plenty of inspiration. 👀 Two very different talks, but a fitting way to end the conference: the technology is only part of the experience. It’s what you do with it that people remember. ✨ And what a way to close out the conference. 💙 https://lnkd.in/e6Gc2yMz #threejs #threejsconf

Eight lightning talks, two minutes each, and a lot packed into the time. ⚡️ We jumped from no-code 3D tools and physical × web experiments to the Blackbird Awards, iJewel3D, AI, YouTube and new ways of working with glTF. And Matias Perez showed JOYCO’s 3D tooling 🤩 And Nicolas Barradeau… 😂 Let’s just say his two minutes were very memorable. Now Bruno Simon is on stage RIGHT NOW. 👀🔥 More from Paris: https://lnkd.in/e6Gc2yMz #threejs #threejsconf

While Antoine Ménard is on stage, here’s a little something from Yuri Artiukh 👀💙 And what a show by Nicolas Barradeau during the lightning talks 😆 🔥 More on that later… #threejs #threejsconf

Getting ready for the final two talks of the day: Antoine Menard from Merci-Michel and Bruno Simon! 👀💙 But first, we’ve got the lightning talks. Two minutes each to showcase a project, just like yesterday. ⚡️ We also had a 3D Tools & Ecosystems panel with Spline, Miris and Intangible, moderated by Florian Zumbrunn 👀 And a few more moments from Paris, including some shots with amazing Yuri Artiukh and Edan Kwan 📸 More to come! 🇫🇷 #threejs #threejsconf

Three more talks, three very different perspectives. 👀 Cassandre Leguay explored what UX can learn from performing arts, showing how framing, anticipation and surprise can make digital experiences feel more immersive. Then Sunag, creator of TSL, took us deep into the future of Three.js shaders, exploring how TSL brings materials, post-processing and GPU compute together through a composable node system. ⚡️ And Edan Kwan from Lusion Ltd gave us a very technical but very fun look behind the scenes of their work, challenging the audience to guess how some of their seemingly complex effects were actually made. 😄 More from Paris: https://lnkd.in/e6Gc2yMz #threejs #threejsconf

While we’re listening to Sunag on stage, here’s another little piece of conference magic. 👀✨ Julie Marting from Hervé Studio showed us the magical speaker badge! And it’s only half the story… put it next to another speaker badge and the two actually interact. 🤯 What an epic little detail for the conference. 💙 More from Paris soon! 🇫🇷

A little interlude before the next talks begin… 👀💙 We have a special message from Bruno Simon, straight from Paris! 🎥👇 More from the Three.js Conference coming soon. 🇫🇷✨ #threejs #threejsconf
