Texans are sticking with their electricity providers, but not always for the right reasons.   In our latest survey of 969 Texans living in deregulated ERCOT markets who self-identified as owning or sharing the responsibility of their home's electricity shopping, just over 50% said "Yes" when asked if they had ever stuck with a provider because switching felt like too much work.   Maybe the residential electricity marketplace has some problems?   We're not surprised. There are dozens of REPs, hundreds of shopping websites, and thousands of plans to choose from.   How can the average person be expected to know where to look AND how to identify the best plan for their home among all of those options? Remember my post last month about how we'd continue offering our customers cheaper rates? Well, we just did it again. When we said we'd offer rate reductions to our customers when the market allows, we meant it. This month, we gave over 800 Texans on the Bluebonnet plan or subscribed to BKV Energy Plus the chance to switch to a lower energy charge without the stressful research, switching providers, and expensive early termination fees. This is not how the residential electricity industry usually works. For us, it's simple. When prices drop, Texans should be able to save money. That's how we build trust and long-term relationships with our customers.   BKV Energy is different on purpose.

We're doing things a little differently on purpose.   While most electricity providers focus on teaser rates and fine print, we built a system that actually lowers rates for our existing customers when market prices drop.   Normally, you have to pay an early termination fee and switch providers to secure a lower rate, but we've eliminated those hoops.    In August, we offered a rate cut to over 800 BKV Energy customers on the Bluebonnet plan or subscribed to BKV Energy Plus.   The average was –1.4¢/kWh, with some as high as –3.7¢/kWh.    And when the market allows, we'll do it again.   This is why Texans are switching to BKV Energy.
