Deep Linking

What is "deep linking"?

Often our users share content from the library website. Sometime they only want to share a specific section of that webpage. Deep linking enables a user to share a link that will jump to the specified section when the page loads.

How do I create a deep link?

We have already built in deep linking into every library webpage. By default all h2 headings will be enabled as a shareable link. To see this in action hover over the title above (How do I create a deep link?). You should see a small link icon appear on hover to the right of the title. When you click that link icon the url of the page will have the name of the section appended to the end of the url. (ex: https://www.lib.ncsu.edu/my-page#page-section). That new link is now shareable and will automatically link to the desired section.

What if I don't want an h2 heading deep linked?

To disable deep linking you'll need to edit the h2 directly. Find the
tag then add the class name "disable-deep-link" (ex:
My Page Section
.
